In the past I've had a room only rates and sometimes my sister has joined me for a few days. Usually I've been traveling with my youngest child so my sister has been the second adult, so no extra person fee. One time her and our mom joined me, so three in a room. I let the resort know about the extra people and got the extra keys (the resort did not charge for the extra person, but they could have if they had of chosen to).

Now my situation is a little different. I'm thinking about going with a package when my DD and I go to WDW in January. Can my sister join us for a few days? She would be the third adult (my DD will have turned 18yo before the trip) and we'd pay the extra person fee and get the key for her, but is that even allowed?

I wanted to find out the answer before it even becomes an issue so I can be clear what to tell her in case she wants to join us.

Thanks!

yes it is allowed.

you would probably be charged the extra person this time.

however having say that - I think WDW requires you to add this person to your package????

if you are getting the tickets - I am not sure if they can issue some room keys with the tickets and others without it on the same room.

That is correct. The Disney package rules state that everyone occupying the room must be on the same package.

Thanks! If she wants to come she'll need to get her own room, then. I don't even know if she would be interested, but figured I should have an answer just in case.

Rhonda, I've heard some reports of people that were successful in allowing extras to stay in rooms with guests on a package plan. However, they did not tell the resort until the people actually arrived, and they allowed the guest to stay in the room (for the addititional charge, if applicable), and gave them their own key. One must use caution, however, because if they get turned down, they'd have to pay for a seperate room, if one is available.

Yes, I've heard of that too. But, I wouldn't want to encourage somebody to try it, in case it doesn't work out for them. Then I would get blamed!! :earseek: LOL!
