Guest comment cards--do hotels respond?

I don't usually bother filling out guest comment cards at hotels in any amount of detail--lots of times they are just "check the box" type things where you indicate if service is excellent, very good, etc. And I can't say that I remember ever having any kind of a negative situation which we weren't able to get resolved at the time. But at our stay last month at a Disney resort, the comment card was free form, and I spent a lot of time filling it out, mostly because we had two issues which had particularly concerned me. It's probably the first time I have ever written anything really negative at any hotel on one of those cards.

Anyway, it's been 6 weeks since it's been turned in, and I never got any sort of response from the hotel (it was the Dolphin). I am getting ready to follow up on it, but I'm wondering--have you ever had a hotel respond to any negative comments on one of those comment cards? I can't figure out if they just don't respond to those, or if maybe it wasn't delivered to the appropriate person. We brought it to the front desk when we checked out.

Since it was the Dolphin (Starwood Hotel) I think that you may get a response. Most hotel companies actively read and respond to comment cards, even to the point of thanking those that take the time to fill out positive cards acknowledging specific staff menbers. Good luck with your situation.

I have been waiting to hear a reply from the dolphin myself. It has been about 3 weeks, still early, but I was wondering if they would respond as well!
