Traveling with a non visual disability family member. Does this card allow assistance to attractions or does it also include dining? This is our first time using this card as we will have2 dr notes. Any help would be appreciated in this area. Thank you.:)

you don't need a dr note they won't and can't read them and they are only for attractions they can't be used for dining. sue has lot of great info in the FAQ's section about gac and is the most up to date info.

GAC stands for Guest Assistance Card - and it is basically a communication tool to let Cast Members (CMs) at attractions know what sort of assistance someone needs because of their disability. GACs are basically for invisible disabilities - if someone has something visible that shows their needs (wheelchair, cane, Service Dog), they may not need a GAC at all since the CM can see those things and know hat they need.

In the case of visual disabilities, assistance may include things like seats closer to the front for shows.
GACs are only for attractions, not dining or anything else.

As was already mentioned, guests don't need a doctor's note to request a GAC. You can bring them, but expect that CMs will not want to look at them.

There is more information about GACs in post 6 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. You cn find that thread near the top of this board or follow the link in my signature.

Just wondering if our GAC will still be honored and used even with the new magic bands and FP+? Will we need to get FP+ reservations or just saw the GAC at the FP line as we have done in the past?

They will never get rid of the gac they are making changes but right now no one knows will be. Gac was never meant to be used like a fast pass so fast pass plus won't am effect it. What might happen is they put a gac linked on your magic band and at each attraction you can scan it and the cm will see what is needed. But until sue post about the changes I wouldn't worry or believe any rumors we have to wait and see what Disney dose.

But do not worry they are not getting rid of it just make some changes. Disney taking their time to make sure they get it right they do not want to make it harder for guest.

Gac are not fast passes so yes you have to get fast pass plus reservations to use fast pass. The cms was letting guest use the fast pas line but that not what Disney intended it for. They may still let you go through the fast pass line but that up to the attraction and the cms working it. People see that and they start abusing it so that why Disney has to make changes to make the guest who really need it still be able to enjoy their vacation and guest who just want to take advantage of Disney good nature don't get to anise it any more.

My problem is with RA, and other ortho problems, I can't run- somedays worse than others- and getting to FP w/i the time frame, sometimes just doesn't work! I never got a GAC until they put the time frame restriction into place and we were, literally, 5 minutes late because my arthritic foot was acting up. Nearly not getting to use our FP, we next went to Guest Services. I have a PAP and I'm afraid this whole new system (Magic Bands, FP+ bookings 60d in advance) is ( pardon my language) going to suck. After our October trip, we have our Family Reunion there in April. If the system is awful for PAP holders and Guests w/ Disabilities, that will be the end our 3-4 treks from Tx. each year.

I'm going to close this thread at this point as it is getting into rumor discussion and will probably ultimately turn into a debate as posters who are looking to cause trouble show up.

See post 6 of the disABILITIES FAQs for more information about GACs.
