Guessing game: How accurate are the rumors?

Just taking a wild guess, how accurate do you think the DDP rumors are? For this thread, I'm thinking specifically about Deb's allearsnet posts.

I think it will be close with 1 or 2 significant changes.

I think they will have the regular and delux be the same (no app, no tip) but the delux will have 2 or more TS and 2 snacks. If they have the difference, servers will get confused and will refuse apps to those on the delux. This will cause customer complaints, and demands for a refund in some cases.

Some people may even sue diseny due to weigh gain!

I agree! Deb's usually right on and doesn't report things until she gets the info from very reliable sources. Up until she reported it, I was sort of ignoring it as just another rumer.

I agree with others who have stated that Deb has it right. Not to mention that others, like the unofficial guide people, said that these changes were coming.

What Deb reports is "different in a meaningful way" from some of the rumors that have been circulating (i.e., Deb clearly states, "It DOES include the appetizer.")

I thought it was a done deal when we saw the authoritative reports of the changes in the UK. The only rumor I think is inaccurate is the one about the taxes not being included.

Based on feedback I've read here on the DIS and on other boards, I wouldn't be surprised if Disney changed its mind and decided to make it either an appetizer or dessert.

It could be wishful thinking (because I would like this to happen), but I do see an overwhelming response encouraging this option.

Disney insisted on changing the union contract to delete the included gratuity from dining plans. The UK TAs said the 2008 dining plan won't include the gratuity or appetizer. This is really more then a rumor. I can't see Disney offering UK residents a dining plan that offers less then US resident get.

Posters are really asking if Disney will change its mind. My guess is they will wait and see how the changes affect bookings. A couple of knowledgeable posters said Disney didn't like guests ordering large appetizers in order to "stretch" their credits by using fewer credits then guests dining. I could see Disney relenting and offering soup/salad or some other small appetizers that aren't entree portioned.

Jim--I don't think Disney will be billing guests sales tax based on the food ordered, rather they might charge tax on the purchase price of the dining plan.

I absolutely agree. I've know Deb for a long time (she use to shop in my husband's Disney Catalog store). We consider her a friend, though we only see her occassionally when our paths cross. She has lots of Disney contacts and pretty much knows what is going on. She would not be posting this information if it was way out there. I believe she has hit the nail on the head and has this information to the letter.

Based on Deb's update including appetizer I am going with her as substantially correct. She has never lead me wrong. (Now if it was only Jim Hill I would assume all of it was false, but... LOL!)

I would not think it's that hard....It would just be putting something like DXL on the Key to the World for the server to look at. The computer would be pretty easy.

The thing I am amazed about is the OUTCRY of horror. It's like Disney OWES everyone FREE food??? (Once again we are faced with the cold hard truth... Disney is not a charity. The "right to a cheap Disney Vacation" was not included in the Bill of Rights)
