My anniversary trip to New Orleans is paid for. From the hotel room, to the cruise tickets, to the garage parking....it's ALL paid for!!
I didn't realize that until I counted my money in my trip jar upon returning from Nashville. (I'm still working on those pics, but I'll have them online eventually, be patient with me please.
) Right now, I believe DH and I are about $75 over of what we need, so that will be used for meals of course. Whatever I throw into the jar now will be paying for food, so I may not have to use tip money the week before to pay for the eating expenses. I won't have a paycheck for a couple of weeks as I didn't work last week and the next paycheck which will have 33 hours on it, they will use that one to catch up my insurance. Speaking of insurance and forgive me for getting off track, but it's on my mind.
How do people who don't have insurance afford hospital visits????
My bills have been coming in over the last month and my part alone totals about $1400. Without insurance, it would have been nearly $6000!!!
I just can't believe what they charge for some things and some of it upsets me, but hospitals do what they have to do I guess. I didn't know it, but I got money back on my prescriptions. That's $49 that came in handy upon returning from Nashville. I've heard of people declaring bankruptcy because of hospital bills they couldn't pay off. WOW!
So I can't tell you guys how appreciative I am of that $20 my insurance company takes out of my check a week. Anyway, if I offended anyone who works in a hospital about the cost of things, please remember, I was married to a military man for 10 years, so for that time, I never had to pay for a thing unless the military sent me off base and then it was such a nominal amount. My apologies to any I offended, I appreciate everything Gulf Breeze Hospital did for me, who knows what shape I'd be in had I not gone for surgery back in January.
So anyway, New Orleans is paid for and at the end of this month, I'm going to take the money and put it into a savings account. I have about 7 uncashed paychecks and I need to get 2 into the bank before they hit the 90 day mark.
Have any of you had a trip paid off before going? Isn't it a great feeling when you do? Also knowing that I don't have to buy any type of souvenirs really is a relief too. I may get a keychain or something small like that to mark our 12 year anniversary celebration, but that's what the pictures will be for.
Well, thanks for letting me share and I hope to hear from a few of you. I've been out for a few days, I've missed you guys.
Take care,
~~~Denise
I always love it when I find out I have enough saved up for an upcoming trip. As for the insurance thing, I have no idea. Even knowing that my insurance paid for well over $100 in blood tests and several hundred for my glasses makes me wonder how people w/o insurance do it. Enjoy that trip though
