I am on my way home from WDW (not arriving until tomorrow, but the hotel has free internet - whee!!)

We ate a fancy restaurant every night, with the number of participants ranging from 3 to 9. We had a wonderfulk sinner at V & A.

The grand total savings was - ta da - $298.00!!!! ($348 - $50 for the card). And I will be able to use the card again in October when I go!

Thanks to the disboards I not only saved with the DDE, I also got AP rates at POR on 2 rooms and saved over $800. So this vacation cost me about $1100 less than if I never read the boards. I now have my husband's blessing to be here every day (not that I NEED his blessing, but it's fun having him excited about the savings, too).

ANy question about the DDE? I won't be home and back on the boards un til tomorrow night, but I'll answer any Q's then!

Good night and YIPPEEEE!!!

Wow, I saw you posted that in another thread and I need to make sure I'm understanding this DDE card correctly. It's 20% off food in restaurants- right? Is it EVERY WDW restaurant? I'm trying to make sure this info I have so far is correct because to save $348 that means you spent originally $1750 on food but saved $348 off that? Is that right?

Or is it off merchandise too? I can't imagine spending $1750 for food on a trip- we didn't spend that much for our family of 5 for 12 day trip and we did a lot of expensive meals/character meals too! LOL

I'm not sure if you did this or not but I thought I would ask a question. I understand that everything has to be on one bill at the end of the dinner (for up to 10 diners). If you were eating with another couple, could you put down two credit cards and say "split the bill 50 - 50" or does the person who has the DDE have to put the charge on his/her card only?

Gary

Glad to hear it! Can't wait to get my DDE for the June (and October) trips!

Another question: Does everyone in your party have to have an annual pass to have them included in your bill for the 20% off? Thank you.

Can't wait to start using ours in July. We're a family of five so 20% off will be greatly appreciated. I have a "stupid" question - is it just for meals or are adult beverages included. I ask because DH enjoys going to Mizner's every afternoon while I put the kids down for a nap. Also, are all meals counted or just dinner? Thanks a lot.

I'm curious about the "adult beverage" part also with DDE. If I understand correctly, I could walk into the Rose & Crown pub and show my card and get
20% off my pint of bass? :drinking1 Don't get me wrong, I plan on using it for food also, but just wondering if it would work in this case? Thanks, from a distraught Jets fan! :sad2:

It is my understanding of the program that it is good for those that pop into a lounge/pub for drinks, whether they order a meal or not.

Everyone in your party getting the discount must be on the same check, no separate checks. The only person that needs to be a FL Resident -OR- AP holder is the person with the card. Yuo can not put part of the bill on one CC and the other part on another...that would kind of defeat the "all on one check" stipulation. If you are traveling with another party you can make private arrangements later..for instance, figure up their portion and have them pay that amount to your room charge account the night before check-out.

Here is a list of perticipating locations http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneydiningexperience.htm

In another thread, a DVC member indicated that Bongos is also participating in the DDE program. But she may have just gotten "lucky". Ask prior to being seated at locations not on the official list.

Holy cow, you did save a bunch.

DD (college student) saved about $70 last week for her and friend.

herc.

Thanks for the information Chuck - that's pretty much what I thought the answer would be - LOL!

My fiance and I spend at least $1800 on food for 11 days, including private dining and alcohol. The DDE is only off food and drinks (alcohol included), not merchandise. That said, we eat two sit-down meals per day at places like V&A's, Flying Fish, etc. and usually end the day at the resort bar or on the BoardWalk. We jumped at the chance to get the card. What great savings! There's a list of restaurants and bars on another thread, but it's basically every WDW owned restaurant. Places like Rainforest Cafe, Big River, Portobello, and restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin are not included.

I was planning on buying my AP at the Orlando airport when we arrive. Will I be able to purchase the card then? If not, do you know if I pre-purchase the AP ahead of time, will I be able to purchase the DDE card then?

I guess from the list of restaurants I was assuming that character meals would be included but that's a good question. Does anyone know for sure?

Yes! It is good for character meals at any of those restaurants listed!

Also good for free valet parking when you dine at the resort (just tip the valet when leaving.)

Mommybear-No, you need to order it in advance by phone. If the card does not get to you in time, well, I think they can email you confirmation and you can print it out and show the print out as you would show the card. I do not know if you can get it without already having an AP...but I "think" you can...you just have to show the AP when using it. But to oreder the card...well, I am not sure how they will "know" if you do or do not already have an AP. maybe someone else can clear that up for us.

Cinderella-My DH and I are like you two..we spend BIG when we are at WDW...appetizers, multiple cocktails, dessert at every dinner...it is easy to spend lots of money while dining! BTW...gotta give you a compliment...neither of you LOOK like you eat very much!

We used our DDE card at several lounges...so it does work with just alcohol, no food.

Also, we were never asked to show FL ID, just so you know. But the card does have your name on it (they actually send you two...one with my DH's name, one with my name.) so if you pay with a CC they will notice if the names match. But if you pay in cash, well, I guess you could even lend your card to a friend! I am not suggesting this, just saying I am surprised they don't check ID!

disboo-You did awesome! My DH used to make fun of me for being on these boards all the time...but he realized I am saving us money so now he is all for it!
