In anticipation of AP rates coming out for Oct, we are considering connecting mod or AS rooms for a family of 6 (me, DH, DD9, DD7, DS4, DD4mths). We usually stay at a deluxe but this is our first trip as a family of 6. I know we can still stay at a deluxe that holds 5 and an infant under 3 yrs, but I think we may be better off with 2 rooms. Will they guarantee connecting rooms for families with young kids? We do not want to split up the family.

Thanks.

I have connecting rooms for a family of 5. It is stated on the confirmation as "guaranteed connecting rooms for families". The CM stated that this was one of the few things that was guaranteed. Hope this helps. Have fun!

not sure if you are planning on doing a package or not, but when we did the 5+2 dreammaker, we learned that booking the ressies separately (so we could have two rooms, me/dd and dh/ds) came in a bit cheaper ($247 for 8 days w/uph's) than booking a package in one room and the second room as "room only" something to keep in mind when doing your price-shopping :)

Cinder1 - if you are thinking about 2 rooms at a value, have you thought about Pop Century?

We have stayed three times at All Star Movies - my youngest DD absolutely LOVES the 101 Dalmations section! Our rooms have always been very quiet and its a short walk to the food court/bus stop! (One of the times we stayed here, we had 3 kids with us (older DD had brought a friend) and they did guarantee connecting rooms!).

We just returned last month from a stay at Pop Century and we really had a great time!!! It is a WONDERFUL resort! We will be back at Pop Century in December!!! They do have some of the character icons at the bldgs - we stayed in Mowgli & Baloo!

Anyway, at Pop Century, they do not share buses with the other resorts - so it may be easier for you if you're bringing strollers, etc. Just something to think about!

Have a great trip!!!

Thanks so much for the replies. I don't know what I'll do for sure. It depends on where I can get an AP rate. I'll consider just about anything. We just want to be in WDW!!!!!

When I called to make my request for connecting rooms (and I mentioned the 3 kids), the CM said that she would add it to the reservations, but could not guarentee anything. Should I call back?

Yes I would call back. The CM I talked to only mentioned "family", but I have read somewhere that it is guaranteed for families where children out-number adults. Do you have grandparents with you, or such, that makes your adult number more that your children number? Even so, I would call back. It nevers hurts to ask again.

With young children in the group and in a room by themselves- they should guarntee connecting rooms. just make sure that you tell them that the 2nd room is for kids and all are under age __

The only other way to get guarnteed connecting is thru magical gatherings(that is a group of 8 or more)

I recently sent WDW Reservations an inquiry about connecting rooms. Attached is the email response that I received. In general terms, if the children are young, you should get connecting rooms.

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

We can certainly appreciate your desire to assure connecting rooms for your party, however it is a request which cannot be guaranteed.

Such guarantees are made only for families with small children who must be in a connecting room due to the party size or other reasons. Since all rooms cannot connect, these parties must be
accommodated first by reason of the safety, security, and well being of small children in the party.

We have placed a request for connecting rooms on your reservation which will be honored by the hotel if possible. We have also included a notation to front desk cast member stating your strong desire to have your request honored. Once again though, we must restate that while resort cast members will do all in their power to accommodate your request - it cannot be guaranteed.

Under any circumstances, connecting rooms will be assigned to parties with small children on a priority basis.

Any CM's out there? We have a reservation that states that connecting rooms are guaranteed, but what happens if they aren't available at check-in? Should we push it, or just let it go? Or, would they just assign us a different room type, or different resort? Thanks! ;)

Called CRO and was told that connecting rooms are not guaranteed, but that since we have 3 small kids with us, they will do their best to get the rooms connecting. She said that the requests are entered as "preferred", but not "guaranteed".

I confirmed our preferences and will call Pop 4 days prior to confirm these, especially the connecting part.

In my experience WDW will do everything possible to accomodate reasonable requests. For our last trip we requested connecting rooms - my parents stayed in one room, and my (then) husband, son, and myself stayed in another. They said they would do their best but we ended up not getting the connecting rooms. No big deal - my parents were only one or two rooms down from us.

Fast forward to our departure day. I came down with a horrible case of the stomach flu the night before and right as we pulled off of WDW property my 2 year old son puked all over the van. We had a two day car trip home to Indiana and I did not want to have a puking child in the van for two days. We immediately turned around and drove back and asked for our rooms back. They had already been reserved out to other guests but they found two more rooms for us. The CM took one look at me and could tell I was felling terrible too. We never even asked for connecting rooms but she upgraded us for free to preferred location rooms just so she could give us connecting rooms. She said she figured that since I was so sick I would be relying on my mom to help me with the sick two year old and that would be easiest with connecting rooms.

I have heard that they will guarentee connecting rooms when there are young children involved. My guess is that we didn't get our initial request for connecting room because someone like you needed them more than we did.

I went through this earlier in the year before our June trip. I needed 2 rooms for 2 adults and 4 kids, aged 13-16. I was told by the CM at CRO that they can't guarantee them. I then told her that I had them guaranteed before when we had more kids than adults. She kept telling me no, so I asked for her supervisor. She put me on hold and came back to say that we had guaranteed connecting rooms. It also stated this on my confirmation slip.

If they keep telling you they don't guarantee them, then I would ask for a supervisor.
