I just saw this (Guaranteed Christmas Week at Grand Floridian) in a listing for VGF points on the TSS web site. I don't remember being offered guaranteed weeks when I bought at VGF. Do they offer other guaranteed weeks?

Since sales began you have been able to purchase a set week at VGF rather than just points for a premium over what the week would otherwise cost in points; same option exists at Aulani. However, you cannot purchase "Christmas week" in the sense of Dec 25 to Jan 1 every year since the weeks being sold begin on Sundays and thus actual dates you will have each year will change, and if you purchase week 51 and the weeks begin on the first Sun in Jan, you may actually miss Christmas in that it becomes your departure date when Christmas is a Sunday and Dec 31 is on a Sat in the given year, You can annually also choose to forego using the set week and instead switch to using the points for other times of year.

As drusba points out, its a misnomer to label this deed as a "guaranteed Christmas week." Based on the description on the Timeshare Store's website, the deed is for Fixed Week #51. In 2014, Fixed Week #51 owners check in on December 21 and check out on December 28. In 2016, Fixed Week #51 owners will check in on December 18 and check out on Christmas Day, December 25.

But in 2017, Fixed Week #51 will miss Christmas Day completely. Fixed Week #51 owners will check in on December 17 and check out on December 24.

I'm somewhat surprised that TTS is advertising this deed as a "guaranteed Christmas" week. I realize that a buyer is responsible for understanding what they are buying but, in my opinion, TTS should do a bit better job of describing what this deed really offers.

I am really surprised that there are so many VGF resales. I would rather buy the first week in December than Christmas week.

500 points per week is still about $1000 per night if you value the points at $14pp on the rental market.

If you look at most of the listings, they are stripped contracts and asking price is close to what they bought. So they enjoyed the vacation and unload the contracts with a very small loss.
