GTY -when are you finally assigned?

I think we're going with the cheaper cat 12...

I know it is GTY, when do they finally assign you a stateroom?

I checked the DCL site daily and about 6 weeks before the cruise I got a stateroom assignment (and an upgrade!!!).

We booked a GTY11. We booked through travelocity.com so I didn't know our room assignment until our cruise documents came. We were upgraded from a Category 11 Stateroom to a Category 9!!

If I booked thru a TA, can I still check the DCL website to see?

And when I am assigned, if it is a handicap accessible cabin with no tub can we ask to be switched to one with a tub for the kids? What about at check in? Do they do that?

No you can not check the DCL site if you don't book through them. You'll have to go through the TA.

Your TA could also put in a request for a tub...and not a WC acessable shower. Don't know if it'll help...but it can't hurt.

If you book through a TA, do you still have a chance to be upgraded???

I am booking cat 11, and if we don't get one that's fine....but if we do...yipee!

What are the chances if I am booking almost a year ahead, and through a TA?

Last year we booked a cat 12 GTY. we booked thru Walmart travel and we did not know our cabin until we received our cruise docs in the mail. Which was about 2 weeks before hand. We were upgraded to a cat. 8. We really did not care about the room. Wanted to go cheap an spend more money on other things. The same thing for our cruise on Dec. 17, 2005. We booked a GTY 12 cabin and whatever we get is fine by us.

I did the same, I booked thru Cat 12 thru Travelocity. About 2 months before, my cruise, I started calling Travelocity to see if I was upgraded from GTY 12.

While I am on hold,Travelocity, will call Disney, and asks if I have an assigned cabin as of yet.

Finally, about 3 weeks before my cruise, Travelocity was able to give me the room number. It was an upgrade to cat 10. Travelocity didn't realize it was an upgrade, but I did from the room number.

My point, is just because you are booked with a travel agent, doesn't mean you have to wait till your documents, arrive to find out. Call them, & be pushy & tell them to call Disney. Travelocity was quite helpful, & most of the agents didn't mind calling. (unless you don't want to know, till documents arrive) Can you tell I was quite excited. lol
