We sail on Aug 15. We had originally booked a 5C verandah but changed to a 9C GTY due to the falling Cdn dollar (which has since somewhat recovered - bad decision on our part). We got our room assignment about a month ago (room 2014, 9C). Since getting the room assignment, we have had some regrets about our decision to change to Oceanview, and now want to try to change back to a verandah (and are willing to pay the difference) - or at the very least, we want to try change location on the ship (we are now nowhere near family that is travelling with us).
When I go into My Reservations, it shows that the cruise is completely sold out - there are no cabins that i can change to. however it will let me change back to a 9C GTY.
Would there be any benefit in changing back to GTY status? Will we be put right back into room 2014? Or do you think they might still be holding back rooms, and I might have a chance of getting a different room? (I did call DCL, and the person on the phone said as far as he can tell, there are no free rooms - but then why are they still offering GTY?)
