I can't find my town's Trick-or-Treating hours.

Your town has laws and/or ordinances dictating the hours that children may go out on the public street and trick or treat?

No I posted because I'm frustrated at not knowing what time to expect trick-or-treaters tonight.

Yes, I've lived in two towns in my life and both had designated hours for trick-or-treating.

We don't have specific hours around here. Once the sun goes down, it's fair game. When the candy is gone, the lights go out.

When I was a child (early 1960s) we would sometimes stay out till 10 o'clock, always observing the 'lights on' rule.

Anyway, if Fort Worth has such an ordinance I have never heard of it. I guess that it would be in your latest water bill (if they have a little 'news you can us' paper with it like ours does).

I don't get that either- nor changing the date of halloween but we also don't have this "light on you knock light off you don't " rule- the kids go to every house lights on or off. Most homes here have sensor lights so the outside lights only come on if people walk up to the door anyway.

Believe it or not some towns do post hours. To the best of my knowledge ours specifies no one after 9 even though that isn't enforced. We usually get a few strangler teens after 9.

We lived in a town for one year that had tot times. We were shocked at how strictly it was observed. The first ring of the door bell came at 6:01 and it rang for the last time at 7:59. It was pretty awesome.

Of course, now that I have a kid, I like that we live in a town that doesn't have that rule. We live down the end of a little neighborhood and most everyone comes by here early then goes out to the bigger nearby neighborhood. I like to give out candy while dd does our block, then just leave a bowl on the porch for any stragglers and go with her for the rest of it.

I'd try calling the local sheriff's office.

I live in a small village. The tornado/emergency siren goes off at 6pm and again at 8pm on Halloween. It is the signal for the beginning and end of Trick or Treating. I love it!

Jules - Frederick is generally 6-8pm. You might get a few early birds if your light is on and you may get a few stragglers after 8pm if your light is still on.
