I tried to add on our meal plan and they said I'd have to pay for DS2. He'll be turning 3 during our trip, and I thought it was the age on the day of arrival that counted? Am I right?

DH just booked a trip through Disney for 12/6-12/13 and my DS2 will turn 3 on 12/12. When booking they asked for ages but not birthday. We switched resv to a friend who is agent and she didn't mention anything and knows he will turn 3 during trip. Do they want to only add dining after birthday or for entire trip?

Don't add a meal plan then. I didn't have to pay for DS2 as when looking at him they considered him not 3 yet. Maybe you'll be lucky too. They didn't charge me last trip in Inventions.

I wouldn't add a meal plan either if i was actually having to pay for it (ie if it wasn't included free in my package).

I was once charged for DS being 'over 12' on a trip as he turned 12 when we were there (not DLP). They said it is their age on the last day of the trip that counts - of course in reality it is another way to squeeze even more out of customers (as this then put him into 'adult' price band) when he was not an adult in any way, shape or form.

Im assuming they were saying you would have to buy a ticket for your 2 yr old.

As far as I know it is the day of arrival they go by so you won't need a ticket for him.

However Im sure under 3s can't get the meal plan as they don't have a ticket so probably what they mean is that if you want the meal plan for him he will have to have a ticket so you will have to pay for one for him

With the restaurants we have planned to visit, the meal plan will save us money, so that's why I want to get it.

My nephew turns three the day after we arrive in May but when I put his date of birth on the website he was excluded and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to buy a meal plan for him.

Why don't you try doing a dummy booking on the Disney website and see if it's possible to add a meal plan for someone who will be under three on the date of arrival. Or you could call the Disney booking line and ask. If you can't then I would be going back to the travel agent and asking why different rules apply to them!

Or, does your travel agent have your Disney booking reference so you can try and do it yourself.

Yep I did a dummy booking and there was no charge for meal plan for DS2. Ill try the travel agent again, and if I get nowhere with them ill try get the booking ref and do it myself. thanks!

This is how I understand it.

If you're planning on using your vouchers at buffets there won't be a problem as your DS will eat free (under 3s eat free at buffets) so wouldn't need a voucher.

Which restaurants did you want to eat at that would save you the money?

do you mean you'll save 36 euros without paying for your DS2?

You can get Buffalo Bills tickets cheaper - they are typically 40 euros each from ticketnet.fr or the French version of the DLP site.

That's paying for 2ad 1ch, not counting DS2. Ill save €36+ by doing the meal plan.

Phoned again today but the TA is still disagreeing with me. Said they're going to contact Disney to see if they'll allow me to only get the meal plan for 3 of us.

I hope you get a favourable response Dee. It's such a pain when the TAs are trying to make as much as possible from you but on the upside.... 10 sleeps!

I hope you manage to get it sorted. Is it a large travel agent or a chain so you could ask to speak to someone more senior if they still won't do it?

Yeah it's a large TA, very well known for booking DLP. I don't think asking for someone more senior will help, I've spoken to two different people ready and they are insisting that the issue is with Disney a d not themselves. Which can't be the case as Disney go by age on date if arrival.
Anyway, as Kizzy says, 10 sleeps! Yay!

It is madness that they can say Disney is the problem when there would be no issue if you had booked through Disney yourself. It seems like they are lying to you to try and get more money or they don't know what they are talking about - either way it is not what you would expect from a national chain.

If they don't do it for you I would write a letter of complaint to their head office saying how disappointed you are that their staff are clearly lying or misinformed about Disney's policy. I think there is something in the brochure about not buying dining plans for children under 3 and it is bound to be in the T&C about the age being the age on the date of arrival that you could include in your letter.

Still keep positive and I think 10 days is near enough for a little dance.

I suspect it's more that they don't know than a money issue. I've read a lot on forums about people getting misinformation from TAs. There's better experts on here, Trip Advisor etc!

If I could find it written somewhere about the day if arrival I would email it to them. But I can't. I can only go by dummy bookings on the disneyland website.
