GRRRR! No boy toys --rant

****I'll take her Sleeping Beauty for SBB at Epcot and Cinderella for dinner at 1900 Park Fare. I haven't that before either and am hoping to get at least 1 last trip while she still believes that Cinderella and all the other characters are real. I don't think that will last long when she starts school this week. But she's such a princess I think she'll enjoy the dressing up after she learns the truth....****

DD7 is so pleased to be dressing up, that she doesn't care that the princesses aren't 'real.' She's pretty sure that she IS a princess, and that we've been 'misinforming' her all these years. After all, look at the girl in Princess Diaries!! So, possibly everyone has a mysterious past and a Grandmother Queen!

More than anyone I know, Maura has an excellent ability to see the line between magic, reality, and then DISNEY MAGIC!!!

OH NO! This thread has become princess: themed. AAAAAAAGH!

There is actually plenty of boys' stuff in the parks; it's just not that big at TDS. Honestly, you can get Disney toys much cheaper elsewhere. Disney's toy marketing focuses mostly on little tykes; once they hit grade school they don't care that much for the Fab6.
(However, if you want to encourage that, buy the Disney Classics DVD's. The old cartoons from the 30's & 40's are wall to wall Fab5, and really funny, too.)

Boys tend to be MUCH more fickle about playthings; they latch onto the latest cartoon show or video game and immerse themselves in it, but switch loyalties when the next cool new thing comes along. Girls tend to be more steadfast in their "imaginary heroine" fantasies. Also remember that a big part of the lure of dressing up for girls is the sparkliness of it all; boys usually don't get to do glitter, which makes it less fun.

The upside is that boys don't insist that you stand in line for hours to get the face-characters' autographs, or spend a fortune on dress up, or insist on wearing uncomfortably hot clothing to the parks, or get up at the crack of dawn to call WDWDine for a Cindy's PS. It's not all bad. :teeth:

I had to go dig this thread up again after looking at mousesavers this afternoon. I was checking to see if there were any special offers for the disney store online and what is there at the top of the page?
Here's a way to save 40% on selected girls' Disney Halloween costumes at DisneyStore.com! Combine these two offers:

So I can save 20% off of GIRLS costumes if I buy accessories to go with it? What about the boys? Why can't I save on the Peter Pan costume if I buy the knife/dagger thing to go with it? or the Prince Phillip costume if I buy the sword and the shield? or what about Woody if I buy that hat and holster?

Come on, Disney! You do have boys who are interested in your items as well. Of course this is one mom who will be buying her Peter Pan costumes elsewhere after seeing that. :(

my son who is almost 3 is a huge fan of buzz and the power rangers. My disney store has quite a bit to offer in both themes. I have done some major stocking up for bday and xmas presents there. I did see the set with the villians and seem to recall the peter pan set also. While dd is a total princess fan and will wear her dresses on a daily basis- ds now can play too and will either wear his buzz lightyear or the power ranger one. They do have $5.00 off this week in the store on the costumes btw.

25% off buzz and power ranger toys also.
