I am currently working on plans for a 2010 trip. DD will be just barely 2. I just realized that this means a diaper bag and stroller. Yuck yuck yuck. We did a stroller when DSD was younger and I really liked that our last trip we were able to do without it. Maybe if I start training her now (well, as soon as she learns to walk), we won't need the stroller....

You must be kidding!

A two year old will need a stroller. Think about all the stuff a small child needs-change of clothes, sunscreen, snacks, diapers, wipes, etc. Where are you going to put all of that? Most people have it in a backpack and leave it on the stroller and when you park it take it with you.

Most two year olds are still in diapers. If she will almost be three then you might be able to have her use pull ups and not have to do so much changing throughout the day.

I can't imagine not doing a stroller with a newly two-year-old, unless you plan on using a sling or carrier or something like that. There's just too much walking for little feet, and not all twos are good hand holders. Then there's the issue of naps . . . perhaps your plan is to go back to the resort for naps, but sometimes they just fall asleep anywhere, and a sleeping toddler is heavy!

Strollers can be a pain, but I'd rather have it and not need it than the other way around! Of course the diaper bag is a whole 'nother issue . . .

unless you plan on carrying her and all of her things - you definitely need a stroller. it's not awful though. we went with a 6.5 mo old last year and are going again next year with a 2.5 and a 6.5 mo old. the stroller is not a big deal. if you don't want to deal with getting it to the park each day, rent one at the park, but you will definitely need one.

I was kidding. I know we are going to need a stroller (we needed one when DSD was barely 4). And I know we are going to be lugging a backpack into the parks. I'm just really not looking forward to it.

I really like the Land's End backpack diaper bag. It's very easy to carry.

You can also get a GREAT diaper bag (backpack) on One Step Ahead. I LOVE mine -- it's the 3rd diaper bag I've gotten and I've been using it since the twins were about 6 months old -- I wouldn't trade it for any other bag I've seen.

I'm glad. You had me worried. :)

I'm trying to figure out what the training would entail. :rotfl2: The possibilities are endless. ;)
