My 21 yr old DS and his GF are at WDW on vacation. I bought him a Boba Fett magic band before he left - he has severe anxiety and it was kind of a congratulations on being able to do this gift. They went to MK this morning, stopped right before the traintracks to put on sunscreen, so he took it off and it in his pocket; walked up to Main Street and went to put it back on, and it was gone. They went to Lost and Found, but it hasn't been turned in yet - they gave him a plain replacement, and they'll check later, but he's upset. Anyone have any luck ever getting a lost band turned in, or do you chalk it up to experience and move on?

Good chance it will get turned in.

I lost mine at DAK and it was turned in to GR.:)

My daughter lost her Jack Skellington one at BTM...she lost it either putting on or talking off her backpack. I even bought sliders to prevent just that...Oh well, bought a Steamboat Willie one at the gift shop.

Have them check at lost and found the next day. I got back a hat I dropped near Gaston's last year.

I'd like to think most people are honest and would turn it in. He'll check again.

He has a good chance.. there can be delays from lost items being moved to the lost and found. I want to say a castmember every shift change walks it up there from where they are. it could be faster being it was somewhere on main street it was lost.

Items found that day but not claimed are generally moved to the central lost and found at the TTC overnight and you can call them up to see if they have it before wasting your time. you'll need to know date and park when you call and since it's a MB, it does have a unique number on it to confirm it's yours. This one kind of baffles me, they don't just reach out when they have found somethign that has a positive way to identify the person who it belongs too.

Not sure if they will chase it that far, but last time I was there a CM told me each magic band has a GPS. Perhaps a stop at customer relations with a long sad story about how I was a special gift would be in order. If they can't/won't track it, maybe they will find a way to help him out.

They did give him a plain color new one, so at least he's ok there. But today's their last day at WDW - they're going to Universal tomorrow, and home on Friday. I hope it makes it to Lost and Found before they leave the park today.

He can call Lost and Found even after he gets home. If they have it, they will make arrangements to ship it back to him.

I'm sure someone will return it! This happened to my sister at AK. We lost it in the morning and had CMs at Safari check our car for it. By the end of the day it made its way back to guest relations. We deactivated it from MDE when we found out it was lost, just in case though. They told us this happens a lot.

I've always turned in Magic Bands that I've found...at the bottom of pools, on the sidewalk, on retail counters. It happens all the time and most often people turn them in. But, as long as he's having fun, the Magic Band may not matter. I'm sure it was cool, but the goal was the trip, not the band. I hope he can enjoy his time and realize that he can do more of this kind of thing for himself. Blessings!

Make sure he knows that there is no danger to it being lost. Nobody can pick it up and use it. You can even go in to his MDE account and deactivate the band completely if he's unconvinced.

Tell him to check lost & found throughout his trip. It will most likely get turned in.
