GRR, sometimes I really HATE people.

I have only been to Riverview to go shopping but I liked what I saw. Wesley Chapel is a nice area and about 10-15 minutes from me, do you have a particular house (area of WC) in mind? I do not know anything about Lakeland except passing through going to WDW.

I hope your day is going better.

We saw some new builds, most are in phase 1 or 2 and won't be ready for 8 to 18 months, so we haven't found any particular house there. We have found a couple in riverview and a ton in lakeland. the goal is to move to Lakeland and invite ourselves to Ilovepcot's house for dinner every night. ;) :rotfl:

Oh my--so sorry that has happened to you. I just cannot imagine.

I was treated poorly by a customer in a grocery store one time (borderline harrassing behavior). I was able to get my manager to take over his order.

At no time should any employee be subject to something like that. I don't care how much or how valued that customer is.

Are you seriously buying a house in the city (SF/Bay area in general) in this market? Yikes, I wish you luck.

If you are still around, I'd love to meet with you.

I don't know yet. We're still waiting on the word if my DBF will be hired by the Big G(oogle), if he get's hired,we'll be moving out there for at LEAST 3 months and then find out if we're going to stay out there for any lenght of time. The DBF wants to buy a house. Houses in our current market are MUCH more reasonable, as I'm sure you know. :) I Just want to know where the heck I'm going to be living. *sigh* *laugh*

I'll Pm you my contact Info if we're still going to be in town. That way you can have a tour guide, as I am "At Liberty" as they say. *grin* I love being a "kept woman". ;)

hey you're comeing to the land of the commuters-depending on where dbf works you could have alot of choices on different types of communities (and a big range of price differences). i'de rent the initail 3 months and use the time to get to know the area-the communties differ so much (even within relativly small towns it can be night and day from one side of the freeway to the other).

will keep my fingers crossed for your dbf!

Thanks for the well wishes, We find out today (SOON!) what/if they offer him, so keep the pd wishes alive. Renting for a few months is a good idea, and one we've thought about. A move across country is terribly expensive. GAH! PODS, what we were going to use wanted nearly $7K to do it. Uh.. no.... thanks.

I just have a SERRIOUS aversion to apartments. I know that the Big G, will house him for the training time, and after that, They will tell him where he'll be ahem "stationed" for lack of a better word.

Having lived in sunny Southern Cali, I miss the state, Is Northern Cali much different? Has Arni done much dmanage?

I was born and raised in SoCal and then moved to NoCal 5 years ago to go to Cal (UC Berkeley).

There are some differences. It's cold. I'll PM you later. I think I have the flu. :crazy2: :scared: :faint:

Is there room for one more condemnation? I am shocked and appalled that someone would use such a profane, dehumanizing and derogatory word in the 21st century. I don't care if you're purple and like to bag aliens, racism has no defense except sheer ignorance. There is no defense for calling someone that horrible word in this day and age.

And, like Slo, some of my daughter's best teachers were African Americans and she has loved each and every one of them.

I'm seeing spots I am so angry over your treatment.

depends on the part of northern california-the bay area would be more familiar to someone from so cal, but we live closer to sacramento so it seems more low key. our little town has become a serious bedroom community for commuters to "the city" (as we refer to san francisco around here) or sacramento. we have lots of farms and green belts so it feels more open. a big appealing factor is that for $550,000.00 you can buy a nice home here vs. a ratty small apartment converted into a condo in the bay area.

arni actualy manages to drop into a couple of our local restaurants on a fairly regular basis (usualy when he wants some p.r.-he'll swing off the freeway and "chat" with the lunch diners about "real life concerns" :teeth: ). the big news with him now is the state budget-all of a sudden he wants to pour massive amounts into public services and education-seems he's trying to soothe some of the ruffled feathers of public employees he was unsuccesful in "bringing into line" with his failed ballot propositions (he wants to get reelected and the public employees were a big voter base he had on his side the last time-until he turned around and scr*#@* them at the first opportunity.

good wishes to your bf.

Just goes to show, money can't buy you class!

I'd be mad and upset too! I wish I could write something to make it all better, but I can't. Just try to remember not everyone is like that. I know it's hard, but there really are good people out in the world!

Walnut Creek really is a great city despite some of the people. We have lots of shopping and great food. But you aren't going to get a great house unless you have lots of money.

This is the cheapest 3 bedroom house. http://www.realtor.com/FindHome/Hom...int=1&sblo=1&snumxlid=1053316356&lnksrc=00002

is'nt it amazing? we are about 45 minutes from walnut creek and for under 600K you would get a home built in the last 6 years, over 2400 sq. feet/3 car garage/ 1/4 acre lot-all of the top builder upgrades and new top quality flooring throughout-move in ready (and either top quality landscaped or an inground pool). just shows how it differs from area to area around here (and why we have so many commuters :goodvibes ).

I really didn't mean to hijack your thread hon. *hugs* The house you posted there, is what we're renting here in Fla now... aand we're paying HALF that. *boggles* Wow. Commuting is deffinately a way to go. *nod*

Very very very sorry to read your post.

Have you thought of switching hotels or another job.

I've seen your posts many times and I enjoyed your cyberspace friendship.

It is amazing to me that people from the Bay Area, even elderly people who were adults before the civil rights movement, would ever use a racial epithet in the way you describe. As a white person, obviously I don't encounter that, but if that "lady" is going to behave so badly, she can get the hell out of my state. And I second those who have said that your manager is allowing a harassing environment. Write down dates, times, and specific words if you can remember them. Even if you don't want to cause trouble at your job you might choose to file a complaint the day you leave, which might put the fear of god into the higher ups.

This is what I was thinking while reading through the posts. Some of the rudest people I've encountered were quite wealthy while some of the nicest, most considerate and helpful had little money. They would give you the shirt off their back without a second thought if you needed it. There are exceptions in both "categories", of course, and I've seen those, too. There are good people everywhere and encountering the not-so-nice ones make me appreciate the good ones so much more.

I'm very, very sorry you had this happen. I hope your move to Florida will be a positive experience and the environment will be a happier, more accepting one. ::yes::

Now I get to hate myself for being black and being gay. and I'm stuck here for another 45 minutes, I just want to go home.

You know what? I'm neither black or gay, and I can't for the life of me fathom treating a fellow human like that!

So what if you're black??? Who gives a crap! I think you're beautiful! I've come to admire your postings and your skin color doesn't make a bit of difference to me!

So what if you're gay??? Who gives a crap! I HATE this! It makes me so mad to see people judged based off of whom they choose to love, of all things!

FWIW, the woman's age tells me a lot. She grew up in a time where things were very different than they are now. Too bad her brain and her humanity didn't grow with her, when things changed. My father is 82 and was raised during a very difficult time in our society. Sometimes he says things that make me cringe. Luckily, none of that was passed on to me, or my two sisters.

You keep on, keeping on. That woman, and all of the people like her, will one day have to own up to their behavior. Be the better person and try your best to brush it off.

She's ignorant and you're not. So there.

Oh my gosh! I can't believe people say that. How terrible. People can have no class sometimes.....
