GRR--Closed each winter?

DD and I went to DLR last Feb, and GRR was closed. Since I had never been to DCA, I didn't know what I was missing. (On a humorous note, I was looking at it, and a guy walked by and noted, "Looks like Disney forgot to pay their Oregon water bill!") Fast-forward to my solo-trip in May, and I fell in love with GRR.

So, now I'm wondering... Does GRR run through the winter season?

Yeah, I know, silly to want to do a water ride in Feb, but I love the ride, and want DD to be able to experience it too....

GRR runs all year, and they even have different settings so you won't get as wet when it's colder out.

Since I have now watched the Travel Channel Disneyland show aproximately 5 MILLION times (it's the 4 year old's fav and it's on Netflix!), I can tell you for a fact that it is one of (if not the only) water ride of it's kind that has the ability to change how wet you get. Therefore you CAN ride it in February and you won't get nearly as wet as you would in July. So cool!

If GRR goes down for refurb, it tends to be sometime during the colder months, when fewer people want to ride. But no, it doesn't close for the winter season in general.

The kids I went with this Feb will tell you that at the start of March at 9.30pm they were riding it... there was possibly maybe 5 groups at that time and they road it 7 times without getting off,, yes they were soaked,, yes they were cold and yes they had a blast.. crazy fool children....

My only advice would be to ride it early in the day, even if there is a bit of a wait. We went over New Years a few years ago, and kept passing GRR by because it had waits of 25 or 30 minutes, and we always seemed to have another FP at the time we were walking by. Well, we noticed a 2 minute wait one night around 10 and hopped on.

Now, I've heard that they can turn down the water so you don't get soaked, but that certainly wasn't the case for us! We were drenched! And we quickly realized why there was no wait - it was FREEZING!!!!!!!! We were all in jeans and jackets, and we froze to death. I seriously think we had mild hypothermia. We had planned to go close down DLR, but ended up so cold that we had to just go home and take turns in the hot shower.

I LOVE getting wet on Splash and GRR when we usually go in October, and I'm sure we would have been fine during the day over New Years, but at night it was just too cold!
