Our family is traveling Mar 22 -Apr 4 to Southern California and I'm wondering if anyone has ever used Groupons or other daily deal sites for restaurants? Also looking for any deals for the San Diego zoo - other than with a city pass, or any of the other grouped together attractions (we already have a SoCal City Pass - with DL, LegoLand, and Sea World). Looking for any way to save money that we can with this awful exchange rate!

We use Groupons all the time in Orlando. We have also frequently used vouchers from Livingsocial while in the USA, and Wagjag here at home.

Great savings, never a problem. If you are patient, you can get some great discount codes to lower the Groupon prices even further, which makes for some REALLY money-saving deals.

If you're using Groupon to "purchase" something and you collect Airmiles, don't forget to slingshot through the Airmilesshop site!

If you have CAA, you get 10% off at the Zoo, so at the very least you can use that as a baseline. In fact, you could ask at any place whether they have a AAA discount and at least take advantage of that if they do.

Also check Costco online to see if they have the zoo at a discount.

And I haven't used it since I lived in Houston (10 years ago), but check Restaurant.com to see if anything suits you.
