Hey all, I arranged for ground transportation from Canada Place to Vancouver Airport for the end of our upcoming Alaska cruise. We're arriving a few days early to enjoy Vancouver, so it's only one way ground transportation.

My question: how does this work? We've always sailed (PC, Miami & NY) with our car parked at the pier, so I've never done ground transportation before. Do we set our luggage out the night before the same as always? Is there a special muster location the morning of debarking? Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!

We took the DCL Alaska cruise last June and, because we live in Portland, OR, we drove to Vancouver the day prior, parked in the pier parking lot and stayed in the hotel across the street. I assume you are taking DCL transportation to the airport. If so, I would imagine they will let you know the procedure to get you and luggage to YVR. If not, call the CC phone #. We drove our son and family (they live in LA) to the airport after our cruise and we got our luggage in the terminal, loaded the car and took off. It took less than an hour to get there...this might change, depending on traffic...it is not far away.
Before the cruise we arrived late in the afternoon the day prior to boarding, so did not see much of Vancouver. However, we stayed a week in Victoria about a year before the cruise. I recommend it highly, if you have time. Loads of things to do for kids there. Wish we were going with you...of our 8 DCL cruises, this is one I would gladly repeat.

As far as disembarking is concerned you can do either, keep your luggage and do the early disembark, or place luggage outside room and collect them at customs. Much like PC... If you are pressed for time (like we were) i went to Guest relations to request a tag which was first to disembark. (the called you to disembark based on the character on your tag). We were off so fast we wound up waiting a while for our transportation to arrive! But i felt better to be off the ship than to be stuck in customs.

So you disembarked on your own, collected baggage, did customs and went to a muster point in the terminal for the DCL transportation?

Correct, except we waited outside of Canada place for our tour bus. Not sure how the disney transportation works specifically. However, if you want a first off, make sure you request a luggage tag that is called first then you will have no problem being where u need to be. (i think ours was tinkerbell). They had no problem swapping ours out. Have fun!

In our experience (Miami and PC, so Vancouver may be different), you exit the ship as you choose, either express walk-off with your luggage, or by luggage tag after leaving your bags out the night before. Once you exit the terminal, you will be directed to a bus that will leave for the airport once full. If you have an earlier flight, you may want to do express walk-off and get on one of the first buses. If not, enjoy breakfast and exit the ship afterwards.

Thanks to the both of you. We've a later flight out, so I'm not worried about rushing off, per se, but rather just the 'how'. Thanks again!
