Grotto pool Closure (Dolphin)

The Dolphin isn't owned by Disney. I would think Swan/Dolphin would give room credit, discounts to their restaurants or maybe upgrade room.

THIS. The grotto pool closure is not Disney's problem to fix. If people want to use the pools at the nearby Disney resorts, I'm sure there are still rooms at those resorts that are available to reserve.

Not one person has suggested Disney fix this issue. Right now, there are a couple of concerns (for me):
- the current pool situation MUST be the priority. If it isn't, it should be!

- communicating the dates of the renovation on their website or via email to those holding reservations. Allow people the opportunity to change reservation without penalty. (my guess is the majority of folks won't have a strong opinion)

- verbalize if there is a plan in place to offer an alternative "fun" pool to the guests. That may not happen, but if there is, make it clear and consistent.

We are scheduled for the Dolphin during the closure time. Anyone know what the compensation will be? I'm using Starwood points, so I'm not looking for a $$ compensation...more like being able to use the Disney pools.

And the LAP pool is NOT the same as the grotto pool. No way. The grotto pool is a fantastic area and is one of the nices pools in the Disney area (OK, nothing like SAB, but really really up there).

Bolding above is mine. I totally feel for the Dolphin guests and I totally agree that the resort has bungled this whole situation from start to finish. I wonder what would have happened if that other Diser hadn't gotten the ball rolling on the pool conditions, would any of the Dolphin guests known about the upcoming pool refurb before they arrived?

I just got off the phone with Julie at the Swan. She confirmed that the grotto pool will not be closed in 2012 for renovations. She stated the health club is scheduled for renovation during our stay (10-10/10-17).

The answer is probably going to change from one day to another, until they totally get this situation undercontrol and issue a statement or whatever to those that have reservations (like me). Thankfully, I have back up plans at BC and or Poly, but would prefer staying at the Dolphin since I am using points.

I verified this myself by contacting Starwood Twitter earlier today as well. They told me the plans for October repairs have been changed.

Cheers,

But isn't there a health issue with the pool's filtaration? Is it gross to swim in it?:scratchin

The OP from the original Dolphin pool thread said the filtration problem was already close to being fixed, so it shouldn't be an issue much longer.

The OP from the original post, said they are not going to fix the filtration problem because it was going to cost like $35K and that only 3 out of 6 filters were working.
