My sister and I are traveling next week to Orlando and staying at the Grosevnor. Can anyone tell me the good and the bad about this hotel?

Thanks,
EG

We stayed here in 2005 for a quick 4 day/ 3 night getaway.

My husband planned this as a last minute surprise for me before I gave birth to our second baby girl. He chose the "Grossvnever" (that's how we say it:) )
because he got a crazy rate of 49.00 a night.

We thought the reception area and lobby was very nice. Our room was not as nice. We had a courtyard room, which I hear is not as nice as the tower rooms. I quess this is why the rate was so good! I found it to be mostly average except for the bathroom divider thing and the air vents. Both were very dirty, made me feel uncomfortable. The lobby has a small snack area and a nice restaurant. We enjoyed sitting in the grand lobby one night and had a artist do a chalk portrait of our DD.

The pools are in the shape of a windmill. There is also a small kiddie pool . We found the pool area to be very well maintained and very quiet. There is a small pool bar with yummy frozen drinks, virgin for me of course! :thumbsup2

This hotel is not part of WDW resorts so you don't get all the perks. It is part of Downtown Disney, which means you have access to the DTD bus system. In fact, the Grov is one of the regularly scheduled stops which means you use the same busses as WDW resort guests, though not as crowded!! You will be dropped off in the parking lot of the park, no shelter during rain storms, 1/2 hour intervals (as opposed to approx. 15 mins. for WDW resorts) for drop off- pick up and a bit farther to walk...not much though.

I can't think of anything else, but if you have any other ?s feel free to ask.

We had a great trip and we hope you will too!

I said after the last time I stayed there (on Priceline, for like $35) that I wouldn't again. Even if they paid me! The reviews haven't gotten any better since then.

I'd personally stay at the Hilton, maybe the Buena Vista Palace or Hotel Royal Plaza - even if paying a little bit more. But if you have to stay there, it is in a good location and it's at Disney. :)

Oh - just one other thing. I'm not that picky about hotels, I don't tend to go for anything fancy most of the time!

the Lake buena vista best western is only about a block further down - but is a much nicer hotel.

some people have commented on the parking - not enough. the problems seems to be guest who think they have a right to park where they want - not the parking situation in general.

this place had guest who for their entire stay would park right in the drive way.... when there was plenty of parking in the parking spaces. these people were just plain RUDE.

also dangerous - this was definitely a no parking zone. They just didn't care.

if you are going with a timeshare - they will change it to BWLBV if you ask.
