Woman charges Disney character got handsy during Epcot visit

AUGUST 10--While visiting Epcot Center in Florida, a Pennsylvania woman alleges that a Disney employee dressed as Donald Duck grabbed her breast and molested her after she sought an autograph.

After the alleged groping, Donald Duck made gestures--apparently with his snowy white hands—“indicating he had done something wrong,” according to a lawsuit filed last month by April Magolon. The Upper Darby woman, 27, was visiting Epcot with her children and fiancé in May 2008 when the incident reportedly occurred.

Magolon, pictured at right, is suing Disney for negligence, battery, and infliction of emotional distress, and is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages. The entertainment giant has petitioned to have the lawsuit, which was filed in Pennsylvania’s Court of Common Pleas, transferred to federal court in Philadelphia.

According to Magolon’s complaint, she has suffered “severe physical injury, emotional anguish and distress including, but not limited to post-traumatic stress disorder” as a result of the run-in with Donald Duck. She also contends that the incident was “one of a long line of continuing, long standing, similar prior incidents” involving the groping of patrons by costumed Disney employees. (4 pages)

I swear people don't realize how thick those costumes really are. It's hard to see and it's hard to feel. That's why so many characters that I've been around have to look at the autograph pen several times before knowing it's right lol.

Somehow if there WAS a grope, it was absolutely NOT on purpose.

Did anyone read the part where she said this was one of a "long string" of similar incidents? What? You mean those poor, hot people wearing those heavy costumes are doing this job just so they can feel the thrill of walking around randomly groping unsuspecting women with their ginormous costume hands? Right. I don't think so.

Why did she wait two years?
Why didn't she say something to someone right away? I'm certain WDW takes this stuff seriously.
How did she know that huge wing/hand was aimed directly at her breast? The thing's so big it would have covered her shoulder to her belly button.

I've also heard that a lot of the CMs in the costumes are women - so just because Donald is a guy duck - doesn't mean that the woman in the Donald costume would even want to "grope" another woman.

How ridiculous! People file crazy claims like this while real criminals roam the street. If Donald really groped her, why didn't she say something right then and there??? People like this ruin the fun for everyone else. I hope this goes nowhere, as character interactions are a big part of the Disney Magic!
