Hey everyone. I would really like to do a grooms cake for DF for our wedding, but I don't have many ideas. If you had or are having a grooms cake, I would appreciate seeing any pictures or hearing any ideas. Thanks!

I am definitely doing a grooms cake at the rehearsal dinner. I priced Disney bakery cakes out through my planner and the priced were outrageous! I've been in contact with an outside bakery who does amazing work and the price is significantly lower...and she delivers..when I get home I'll get you her website and email if you are interested.

Can you PM me this info too? Thanks!!

I'd love the info too if you don't mind!

Also check out Mikkel Paige. She's on the boards sometimes and she's done cakes for a couple disbrides.

Her fb fan page has a bunch of cake pics... http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mikkel-Paige/152784689741?ref=ts

as well as her blog / website

I took some off her website and here's a couple of my faves:

Now that's what I call talent!!!

Do disney restaurants mind having non-Disney cakes delivered?

I'd love to surprise DF with something like this during the trip, or on the day. (He loves cake more than anyone I know so I think he'd be pretty over the moon with this idea.)

It'd be pretty neat for our welcome meal maybe, but that'll be at WCC or Kona, so I don't want to break any Disney rules.

I'm not sure but I know the sorcerer's hat cake was delivered to Ohana's and they were fine with it.

The company I'm working with says that they have to get permission from the Executive Chef at the restaurant..but she's never had a problem...below is the info of the woman and I attached a picture of the cake that I'm interested in for DF. She quoted me $3 a slice for 20..so $60.

p.s. When I emailed a picture of this to my planner through Disney...I was quoted..and I KID YOU NOT $500!!!:scared1::scared1: I wish I was making that up.

I am going to second It's Tasty Too! She's baking my wedding cake. Heather is amazing and you will love the taste of her cakes. I can't rave enough about her and she was just voted by the knot as one of the top 5 bakers in Orlando.

Thanks for all the help... I will deff. check out all those sites! I really like the cake with the two football helmets, my DF would love that! And doing it for the rehearsal dinner is a good idea too... I hadn't thought about that.

Another quick questions... I hadn't even thought about this as an option, but can you get the actual wedding cake from an outside bakery? I most likely will not end up doing this anyway, but just curious.

I'm trying to figure out what kind of quirky thing I want DF's cake to be, but I'm drawing a big fat blank. Hoping to get some inspiration here. I'm toying with the idea of doing the groom's cake at our DP that night, but if Disney is going to charge $500 for something small, I'm going to have to rethink . I'm assuming that Disney has to do the cake if it's inside the park.

The $500 dollar cake was the 3d helmet cake for DF.....my coordinator said anything that was 3d and around that size was 500....I asked about other cakes that were smaller and less detailed and they quoted me $135..still expensive if you ask me.

I don't know if you can provide your own wedding cake, that would be a question for your coordinator

here is our grooms cake that we had at the wedding (disney bakery) which cost $125:

i have also heard of horror stories from people ordering specialty 3D type cakes from disney. they are good when it come to their cookie cutter wedding cakes but anything out of the ordinary you are better off going with an outside bakery, the quality and the price will be much better.

No. All food and beverage for the wedding, including the cake, must come from Disney.

Just to clarify, you also wouldn't be able to bring a grooms cake from an outside vendor to the wedding or any event being catered by Disney - you'd have to serve it at the rehearsal dinner/other event at a restaurant.

I'm having an xbox 360 created for our dinner at O'hanas. I emailed It's Tasty Too and Mikkel.

No response yet from Mikkel, but ITT is charging:

3.50 a person plus $10 delivery if the cake is under $100

I also emailed Mikkel originally because I thought her work was amazing..but unfortunatly I never got a response:confused3:confused3so I went to It's tasty too

that's weird. She's usually really good about that. Are you emailing her through her website?
