For those of you who have had or will be having a groom's cake, did you have it at your Rehearsal Dinner or Reception?

I'd hate for there to be too much cake at the reception (is that even possible?!? :rotfl:) but I'm still torn.

Thanks!

We are doing our groom's cake at the reception. DF really wanted this Florida State themed mad hatter cake that I saw a picture of on the internet... it's the only thing he asked for! We have bought "to go" cake boxes from Joanns so that the GF can box up any leftover cake for our guests to take home. We don't want any of the yumminess to go to waste! Although DF wants to take whatever is leftover of his cake for himself!

Oh one more thing... by doing a groom's cake at the reception, it will give our guests two choices of cake... I picked an almond cake/amaretto for our main cake, and DF has chocolate and bavarian cream for his (tastes just like a Boston Creme donut... his favorite!)

I've seen it both ways. I like the idea of having it at the reception, since usually the day is "all about the bride" so it's nice to have something to represent the groom. And like the AP said, it gives the guests another flavor option.

His was a surprise and it was at the reception. We had 30 guests total and there was some leftover cake but I can't say if it was alot left over because they whisk things away too quick! I wouldn't say we had too much cake, but with our timing, I don't think we had enough tine to eat and enjoy the cake at the end.
