DS's getting married in Dec. (it will not be a Disney-themed wedding oh fine!). Future DIL loves Disney, just wants an refined/elegant Country Club type wedding.

DH & I are paying for & planning the honeymoom.:thumbsup2 So far I've got them @ BWV, with MYW tix & dining plan. They're hoping for the dolphin thing @ SW (yikes...too rich for my blood) and a day @ Universal.

Feel free to offer suggestions to help me insure they have a great time...I went to WDW for my 1st honeymoon and had an absolutely horrible time - went back 20 years later w/new DH and realized it was the man not the mouse that was a louse!LOL

Thought the MM bride's veil & top hat would be a great photo op @ reception Couple of questions though:

1) I assume they sell them in the Chapeau shop @ MK...can they be embroidered w/names, dates?

2) We always wear our ears in the parks, are the wedding hats unwieldy (especially thinking of the groom's)?

3) Do you find that you receive any "special" treatment due to wearing them...or, perhaps, unwanted attention?

Feel free to post any ideas you might have to help me insure that they have a great trip.

You can buy the bride and groom hats at the Chapeau shop in the MK. They do not do embroidery on them, but you can get their names written on the ears part at the Christmas store in DTD.

Let them know not to expect special treatment as you wear them to the parks. Some people get extra perks outside of lots of congratulations (we got some small desserts and to the front of the line a couple times) but not everyone does.

We didn't find the hats any more unwieldy than the regular ears (although I had to pin the hat on. They aren't as good quality as the regular ears). DH's head was a little too small for the groom's hat, but we made do.

I'll try to answer your questions about the ears:

1. They are available in several places (I actually made my headband, but we bought the tophat). Anyway, I think it was Mousegear at Epcot, and we saw them in several places at the MK, and at the World of Disney in DTD, but you can also order them from mouse shoppe. I think the cap style ears are harder to wear (see question 2).

2. The cap style hat is going to need to be pinned or something for the parks, which is why I think more brides choose the headband style. My DH didn't have too much problem with the top hat, but he's not big into rides and it wasn't all that windy when we were there.

3. I can't say we got any "unwanted" attention...if we didn't want attention we wouldn't have worn them! :p But, when we were wearing them, we were congratulated nearly every place we went or every CM we came in contact with. One gave us free drinks (it was very hot and humid that day)...they are really very fun to wear!

Tell them to make sure they stop at guest relations at the front of every park to get one of the "special" magical moments pins...they're cute and they will help CM's recognize a special day too (even if they decide not to wear the ears everyday, the pins will be a little less noticeable).

Thanks...I'm leaning toward "regular" mouse ears for my DS with perhaps ..Groom or Groom & his name...he has a big head - afraid top hat wouldn't fit.

Well, we HAD a refined, elegant, black-tie optional Disney wedding. I think it's a common misconception that a Disney wedding is going to be hokey. We wantd a wedding at Disney, not a Disney wedding. And that's exactly what we got. We had a few people confide in us how surprised they were. To each his own, right?

I would highly recommend a day at Discovery Cove. I got engaged there, so I am a bit partial. But, it is an incredible experience, the surroundings are fabulous, and the service was excellent. A big surprise for them would be if you rented one of the cabanas out. We were so thrilled to have it after the engagement. It gets very, very hot there and the shady spots fill up quickly. I am sure you could arrange for a dozen red roses and a bottle of champagne for them if you wanted, as well.

We enjoyed Universal, but werre very happy we put the extra money in and purchased the Fastpasses, essentially. Depending on the time of year they are going, they could encounter huge lines. We went during the holidays one year. The place was packed. I noticed that the streets and walkways are much narrower there than Disney and the place has a tendency to bottleneck. Without purchasing the Fastpasses, we wouldn't have seen much of anything. As it was, we bought the books for around $30 a person and saw and did everything we wanted.

Remember, she may not want to put the ears on at the reception if it is going to mess up or loosen her hair any. I was furious when my brother put his hand on the top of my head and rubbed it over my hair. I was in pinned curls and could have shot him. I wish the photogrpaher had caught a picture of the look I shot him. But, I wouldn't pressure her to wear them at the wedding if her hair is up, etc. I certainly would have felt caught between a rock and a hard place if my MIL had done that.

Do not expect anythign for special attention or perks. We had a lot of congratulations, were moved to the front of a few lines, and receievd free food. But, I would say that's an exception and not the rule.

Have you thought about having them delivered to the room instead of the reception so that they wouldn't have the travel with them? The Disney Florist or Gifts of a Lifetime might be good options to have them delivered.

xoxo
