What grocery stores are near Buffalo airport. Staying at airport hotel before trip. Plan to pick things up for our room. What store options are close by. Thanks

I'm curious what you're looking to pick up that you can't just bring over with you? Assuming you're referring to a park and fly type of situation, when we do similar, we'll just bring from home whatever we want to have with us for that night.

Wegmans has a great hot takeout section, good selection of beer and wine. And of course many things not available in Canada.

Once in a while you may come across a US border agent who will not allow certain food items into the USA.

I'm well aware, as I live 20 minutes from the Windsor/Detroit border, and we take some state-side vacations with the fifth wheel trailer. Having the trailer, I'm well aware of what I can and can't bring in most cases (as well as double checking the list usually to see if there's any new or recent additions) and you can actually bring a lot more than people tend to think you can.

In the case of a single night at a hotel, I can't think of what you'd want to bring that you couldn't. Most snack or drink products are allowed, and I don't really expect to be bringing everything I need to make a family dinner, in a hotel, so the usual suspects of meat shouldn't be a concern, even though you can actually bring a lot of those, and even fruits and veg, which most people think are outright banned, aren't and there are exceptions where certain types can be brought. For instance, if I bring a locally grown apple, bearing a seal that it's locally grown, and it's season to be locally grown, it's allowed as per:

Now, if you really need to get bananas, and getting them from the hotel market shop (at yes, an uncharged price) isn't for you, I guess I could see that. But I'm more apt to just pay the $1.00 for a banana, then have to run around to find a grocery store to buy it for $0.57.

Your right it's usually the meats that they are looking for. Sometimes people just want to go to a US grocery store to see the different items. Kinda like grocery store tourism! Back to the OP there is also a Duffs Wings near the Wegmans .

Allso just past the Wegmans is a new Wal-Mart, about 10 mins from the airport .

There is also an ice cream stand right around the corner from the Dick Rd Wegmans called Frosty’s, and they have rotating Dole Whip flavors daily. Today’s was pineapple Dole Whip :cloud9:

I need to get out more. When we fly out of Buffalo we just eat at Bob Evans. When we are in Orlando we go to the same Walmart, in Port Canaveral the same Publix and Fort Lauderdale the same Walgreens

We do the same as well! We did go to The Cracker Barrel for the first time last summer. Never been to Bob Evans, how is the food?

We wanted to try Cracker Barrel but haven't gone yet. Bob Evans is good. Home comfort foods but smaller portions and no sides I guess be the best description but it's good food and prices are decent.

I love Cracker Barrel! Try to hit one every time we camp cross border. I really wish they had them here.

OP, can I ask where you’re going? Is vacationing in the States an option now?

Oooo...adding Wegman's to our US shopping list! We can spend over an hour just in the food section at Target. Can't imagine how much fun we'll have checking out an entire new grocery store!

LOL, we can spend 10 minutes just looking at all their Pop Tart varieties!! :)

Be prepared to spend a long time. My mom actually spent almost 10 min BEFORE going in. It was around the 4th of July and the decorations and flowers outside were so pretty. They had flags in the flowers beds and cute little food kiosks. Might have been just for 4th of July but you can imagine how long we spent in there.

Sounds like 'time-warp' Meijer's. We usually started the camping season (except this year) with a stay in Frankenmuth, MI, and as there's a Meijer's right off the interstate, hit that on the way to the campground. No matter how many times I say we just need to get in, get a few groceries, and get out and that she can come back and shop leisurely later, inevitably by the time we get out, 2-3 hours have gone by, and that's only shopping in the groceries sections!

Oh yes! I hear you!! A couple of years ago my SIL and our then 8yo daughters hopped across to Buffalo for a day of shopping. (How foreign that concept seems right now!!)

Anyways, before supper we hit Target and as was tradition first stop was popcorn and an icee to enjoy during our shop. When we checked out I happened to glance at the times on our bills and was shocked to realize our Target visit had been more than 4 hours!! It was now after 8pm and we were all hungry! Thankfully The OIive Garden was just down the street and always hits the spot!! :)
