Hi - My family is going to Disney in September. We are doing the free dining but it's been recommended to me to also get a delivery from a grocery store for snacks, water etc. I have a few questions. For those who have done the dining plan, is extra food necessary? I have 4 & 5 year old daughters & a hungry husband so I'm assuming it is but wanted to verify. We are staying at the Polynesian. Does anyone know if we will have a fridge & how large (or small) it will be? Also, does anyone know the name of a grocery store that delivers to WDW?

Thanks in advance.

Last year I packed an entire suitcase of snacks, and we brought most of them home.

I would suggest water and a few small snacks, but to be honest, the portions in WDW are HUGE!! We often shared CS meals.

And, it is so hot, you kind of do not want to eat - KWIM?

Pack a few small snacks and head to Walmart or Target for some bottled water and you will have more than enough food!! I promise!!

Amy

PS We also left 6 CS meals behind. We had a few dinners that we ate that were not on the DDP (Bubba Gumps, Planet Hollywood, etc) We never did get around to eating all of our food!!

I would get water delivered (Costco will do it, too). We went through a lot it!!! (and we wern't willing to spend our snack credits to get it)

As for snacks, my kids are snackers. They are slightly older than your kids, but we always packed granola bars to take to the parks. They helped in between meals. We usually bring too much, but I would rather be safe than sorry!

Just returned a few days ago. I have two DD's 2 and 12 who love to snack. We ordered snacks, bottled water, and diapers from Garden Grocer to cut down on packing. We used almost all of the water and hardly none of the snacks. We were just too full with all of the food you get with the dining plan.

We also ordered a styrofoam cooler from Garden Grocer. The ice at the resort is free. We saved $12/ day not renting a fridge (stayed at POP). We also had a purse size insulated cooler I bought at wal-mart ($5) that we used to ice down bottled water and juice to take to the parks. It hung on the back of our stroller - never took it on rides or shows and we never had to use snack credits for drinks. We would also put a washcloth in the ice - nice cool down for our face and necks when we it got really hot. Worked better than our mister fans!

I really don't think you need snacks. There is so much food. Also, counter service restraunts will give you water for free. Just go to the counter and ask. This saves on buying and carrying water.

We also used Garden Grocer when we went in Feb. It was our first time using them and I would definitely do it again.

We ordered some apples (which we didn't touch) and some small snacks to have in our room. We probably didn't need to order the snacks, but it was nice to just have them there when we wanted them instead of having to go down and get them and we could pick what we like, like crackers and cheese, pretzels, etc. We did get a box of doughnut holes, so that DD could eat before we got ready in the mornings, since she usually wakes up starving. We also ordered a case of water and participated in a fridge swap. We used all of the water. I would freeze a few the night before and then we would pack them in our backpack when we went to the park, we weren't willing to use our snack credits for water either.

We mostly used our snack credits for bagels or breakfast stuff. We did also have a lot of desserts left over from CS meals that we brought back to our room.

We went last year in Sept with DS who was amost 2 and orderd from gardengorcer.com.

First of all - whereever it's from - ORDER WATER and/or drinks. It can be very hot and humid in Sept. and even if you use your snack credits for drinks you won't have enough. We ordered water and juice bags and some soda. We froze some bottles of water the night before (empty a bit of water out so they don't explode). We were at BWV and had a fridge. It was a double treat - cold water to drink in the parks as they melted and a cold pack to cool off from the heat.

Also if your kids are picky eaters or prefer certain snacks to others you may want to order those as well so this way they can enjoy the snacks they like.
If you are on the regular DDP - (1 TS & 1` CS) you may want to order some breakfast bars or cereal or such so you can have something for breakfast some days instead of paying OP.

We used gardengrocer.com. I believe you need a $40 minimum order for delivery (I think delivery is $12). You should order around 3 weeks before you leave.
