Grocery Store & no car?

We are staying at CBR and I'm wondering how we would go about getting to a grocery store for a few things like Lactose Free Milk, Regular Milk, Yogurt etc (breakfast stuff mostly).

We are taking a Tiffany Van from the airport to resort and I do know they will stop at a store on the way but 1. We will be there early in the morning before check-in and 2. I just don't think any of us really want to stop even for 15 minutes...we just want to get there!!

Has anyone ever taken a taxi to the food store? How close is the store to the resort? And being from a rural area that has I think 1 taxi servicing the county...how much does a taxi run and do they wait while you are in the store? Or is there another way to do a food run?? Thanks for any ideas you can pass along!!

'FOOD STORES' at WDW

Many places to buy milk and snacks
1) CR gift shop
2) Dolphin resort - lower level near boat docks
3) Boardwalk has many different type of shops
4) Wilderness Campground has a supply shop for their campers
5) Downtown Disney has a deli type shop with food items

So depending on which WDW Park you are coming from, one of the above places maybe 'on your way home'

Dolphin & Boardwalk - near MGM & EPCOT
CR - on monorail from MK
Wilderness Campground - boat ride from MK
DTD - from Transportation Center take the bus

I am sure all the deluxe resorts have a good gift shop with
milk and snacks (we have not checked them all out)

Are you sure the CBR does not have milk and snacks in their
gift shop too ? Try calling them directly and asking.
It's worth the few cents for the phone call to ease your mind.

We always buy fruit & water bottles on our way to the resort.
Seems to last us the 10 days of our vacation.

You may not need/want as much food as you think.
On our first visit to WDW we bought 48 bottles of water for a family of 4 to use for 10 days. We left about 20 bottles of water for room service when we left.
We have since learned to curb our 'food pantry' in the room
at WDW.

Good luck ! ;)

CBR does have a section in their gift shop with milk etc. I know Goodings is expensive in the DTD area but you could walk from DTD and then catch a bus back to your resort.

I know its tempting to want to get to the resort asap but a grocery stop (free from TTC) is only about 1/2 hour out of the way. Especially if you have any specific needs like the lactose free milk you mentioned as it could be difficult to find at WDW. CBR has a small selection of sundries but they are very limited and expensive, you can't even get a loaf of bread or some peanut butter.

IMHO taking the time for the grocery stop can save you lots of money not to mention time and hassle later. Taking a cab back out of WDW to the store can cost between 30-50 dollars and would take over an hour. Stopping on the way takes 1/2 or so and is free.

My dd's like specific types of juices, soymilk and I love to have breakfast food in the room for convenience and time saving in the am. Make a quick list of necessities and make the grocery stop as quick as you can. We also grab a styrafoam cooler with ice to store soda/milk and fruits and veggies. This alone saves the 12.00 per night for a fridge!

i would take the 1/2 hour grocery stop, i know you want to get to wdw but believe me you'll actually save time if you do everything before you get to the resort then you wont even have to think about it again, it will also be a lot shorter time then trying to get to grocery store with no car and it is quite a hike from dd to crossroads, i know i did it with 7 yr old in tow, so the little bit of inconvience of not getting to wdw 15 minutes faster will save you proberly about 1 1/2 hrs of aggrevation later.
