The grocery store is called the market place.

You are down there long enough if you have a sams club card do a click and pull there is one on 192 east.

I believe it is a Winn Dixie. There is a Publix down the road about 1 mile.

The Winn Dixie is good in a pinch, but the Publix is better, price wise and selection, if you need more.

The Publix is close enough to be a better choice, for value and choice.

You could order a couple of platters like a Veggie Platter and a Deli Platter so you don't have to do too much shopping.

Thanks, everyone!

We've got our WD card from last year...

I was thinking of doing the Costco thing on the 24th, and stock up, but that's a little further than I wanted to go...
The www.gardengrocer.com idea is a good option...
Like both of the Publix stores - at OLCC, and by the 27/192 junction..
Albertson's will do a fax, pick and pack for us, we've done before...
...and then there's always WalMart!

We check out of Pop that morning, and then into "our" villa, ;), and would just like to make the grocery thing as easy as possible on Christmas Eve..

Don't mind standing in lines to go Soarin', but not grocery stores!! :rotfl:

The prices at the Market Place are not as good as the ones at Publix. Last year I ordered a turkey dinner ahead of time from the Publix at the Xentury Plaza near Gaylord Palms (just off of 192). It took a while to get through the deli line, but the turkey worked out well.

The publix is very close if you take a left toward 27 it will be on your right I think 2 lights down. There dessert is worth the trip. I bought a cake from there for my sons bday and it was the bomb. Had peices of choc. and strawberries dipped in choc. I think I pais 14.00. Fed every one and had leftovers and we are a crew.

I have to agree. I hate the Winn Dixie. It is dark and doesn't have a good selection or prices, IMO. We drove down to the new Publix when there in May and loved it!

suggestion: do NOT shop there on Saturday late afternoon/evening! We went to the Publix at that time and it was a madhouse, I guess because people were starting their week's vacations and stocking up. Went back several other times during the week and saw no crowds.

That's when all the Orange Lake owners arrive - their check-ins are usually Saturday-Saturday. :goodvibes

And it's a HUGE resort!!

I'm tempted - just tempted, to get up early on the 24th, run and get groceries inthe pre-dawn hours (up early at WDW anyway!! LOL!), leave our perishables with cold-storage at Bell Services, check out, do MK for one more chance at Buzz high score;), our leisurely Character Breakfast/brunch, pick up luggage and perishables at Pop, and head to the house...

...I'm tempted.

That might be the most flexible, least line-up grocery time idea:scratchin:...

or just do Garden Grocer:teeth:

We'll see!

You're so right. What's up with that? It is the darkest supermarket I've ever been in. It's also in the rip-off category as far as prices go.

FYI: They don't accept the Winn Dixie card... It is expensive & the selection is slim but what we did was hit the Walmart the day we got there & just used the Market Place to grab a few things during the week....
