We are flying into Sanford Friday night for short trip for the 24 Hour party. Getting a rental car. We arrive at 5:44pm. Want to head straight toward CBR to change into our Disney bounding clothes, but need to make a quick stop for bottled water, wine, breakfast bars, juice, and soft drinks. Since I don't need much, I would rather not order from Garden Grocer (although that might be the quicker option). I think we will take 417 (?...toll roads), not I-4. I don't want to get stuck in traffic. Are there any grocery stores on the way into Disney that won't take forever to get in and get out of?

Thanks! :)

We have made the same trip (rental car from Sanford). We get Garden Grocer. But, the first time we didn't, and instead we stopped at the Gooding's grocery store right outside WDW. I think they are fine.

The prices at Goodings are outrageous! Literally twice as much as other grocery stores.

Thanks for the replies! In the interest of time, I think Garden Grocer is going to be the way to go! I forgot about Goodings, and the map is extremely helpful! :)

I always type up notes when I get home from a trip. Here were my thoughts about flying into Sanford, and going to a grocery store on the way to the hotel (we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge):

"Got into an argument with the Tiffany Towncar driver. She said the only grocery store was an hour from the hotel. I said we wanted to buy perishable stuff. She didn’t care. I said I knew there was at least one grocery store near the hotel – the Publix near the Convention Center. She said that was approaching the hotel from the opposite direction. She said unless we wanted to go to a gas station, we had to go to the Publix. I think it was in Lake Mary zip code 32746. There was a Staples and a Target in the same shopping plaza. So I think it was:

Staples: 4215 Lake Mary Blvd., Lake Mary, FL 32746

Target: 4155 W. Lake Mary Blvd., Lake Mary FL 32746

Publix: Lake Mary Collection, 4195 W Lake Mary Blvd, Lake Mary, FL, 32746-2410

According to mapquest, that’s 39 miles and 43 minutes from the hotel."

We did go to the Lake Mary Publix, we did not buy perishable stuff, and we arrived at the hotel an hour after we left the Publix.

Publix at Water Tower Shoppes in Celebration is good, but small.

Or if you don't want to go to Goodings (which, yes! is crazy expensive and doesn't have that much selection), there is a perfectly fine Winn-Dixie in the next shopping center over on Apopka-Vineland (Address is 11957 S. Apopka Vineland, 32836 zip code). It shares a parking lot with an ABC Liquor store that has a fine wine and beer selection if you can't find what you're looking for at the Winn-Dixie.

Wow... There are several grocery stores located only minutes away from Animal Kingdom Lodge!! There is a Publix and a Super Target on 192, both of them are only about 5 minutes away from the parking lot at AKL!!

LOL...I hope you and Tiffany worked things out! :)

We are staying at AKV in March, so good to know about the stores on 192. We are staying at BWV in December for a long Christmas stay, so I will keep these in mind. I think I remember the ones on Lake Mary Blvd. I have never been to any of the ones in Sanford, but remember driving past them. I sucked it up and ordered Garden Grocer. If I had more time, I would have stopped by one on the way to the hotel, but we are only in town a few days and I don't want to take any more time than is necessary. We have shopped at the Winn Dixie and Goodings. I figure the prices at Goodings can't be any worse than Garden Grocer, after you factor in the delivery charge and gratuity. BUT, like I said, I'm going to be short on time, and with Garden Grocer, it will be there waiting on me.
