Grocery Shopping while @ AKL

When staying at AKL, where do you go for grocery shopping (Publix, etc.) and how do get there? I noticed a Publix on a map near 192 and the Toll Road, but it doesn't look like easy access.

We were wondering about this too. We are considering booking either a Lyft or Uber car to get there since it seems to be a busy area and not much pedestrian access. There are some supermarkets close by by car and I’m sure their prices will be considerably cheaper than the onsite stores which can be something to consider especially if you are staying in one of the villa rooms and are making use of the mini kitchens. The google maps images are not easy to see the pedestrian access close by. I don’t mind paying for the cars to be able to have the items we want at a decent price.. we love Publix stores and wish we had them in the U.K. they have good prices and lovely fresh foods.

When I'm at BLT or VGF, there is easy access to a Publix near Windemere, which I use quite often, when you exit the back way from the rear of MK. On the Bing or Google maps, there is a Publix close to AK, but access doesn't look easy.

We always go to the Publix Orange Lake when we stay at AKL, even when we stay at SSR as it is our favorite. You take a right onto Sherberth when you exit AKL then a right on Irlo Bronson. We have found it is easy to get to. It is clean and has a large selection of pre-prepped foods which we like. I think they may have a delivery service too.

There is also a Super Target across from this Publix on 192.

If not buying online/delivery, I think I would Uber, even if there was easy Pedestrian access, since I always buy water and sodas which get pretty heavy when walking (even short distances).

This is where we would shop when staying at AKL. The Super Target is also right across the street and is very nice (plus has a liquor store)

We use the Garden Grocer or Amazon Pantry for our groceries. Both will deliver to your resort, but you will have to meet the delivery person or pay bell services to store them. GG does charge a delivery fee but we found it's still cheaper than renting a car or service (Uber/Lyft).

I use Amazon Prime Now (different from regular Amazon Prime). They give you a two hour delivery window AND you can track your delivery person to see when they are nearby, so you can meet them.

If you have a car, getting to the Publix or Super Target on 192, just before 429, is easy. Exit main AKV gate, take first right onto Sherbeth Rd. Take Sherbeth to 192 (Irlo Bronson memorial Highway), turn right and drive until shortly before 429 and turn when you see it (Target on left, Publix on right). The distance is only about 3 miles.

Some have asked about the possibility of just walking from AKV to Publix, a distance as the crow flies of a littler more than 1/2 mile. It cannot be done because you need to go through woods and swamps and there is an outer perimeter fence blocking the ability to exit.

We’ve used amazon’s various methods over the years, but they are limited as to selection IMO

Two Walmarts in the area, we prefer over publix & Target for the items we need (snacks, soda, pop, beer etc. . However, we do have a rental car on our trips.

Could check into whether either WM deliver to resort

We use the Publix at Orange Lake - it's a windy back road but not all that far. There is a Dollar Tree on the other side of the road from Publix if I recall.

Its 6.2 miles from AKL to the TTC. Its 3.8 miles from AKL to the nearest Target.
