Three weeks ago I started to do my grocery shopping online.

I have to say that I absolutely LOVE not having to go to the store and deal with parking and people and lines.

Anyone else do this??

My parents who are in their 70's cannot fathom how I can NOT go out to the store . . .I say, why not, I do most of my shopping for b-days, holidays online, why not groceries too?

I imagine the groceries cost a little more. But, think of all the impulse buying that you don't do. I am sure that many of us go to the store with a short list and come out with a lot of groceries because we happen to see something on a shelf.

I don't think I am ready for that yet.

Which online grocer do you use?

Actually, the groceries are the same cost as the store, but there is a delivery charge of $5 if you spend $100 or more and the delivery charge is higher if you spend less than $100.

They also have weekly specials and they do take manufacturer's coupons and double them.

DH figures that the affliated company purchases the products for wholesale and then sells them to you for what you would purchase them in the store for. Then of course add on the delivery charge.

The best thing is only putting things you need in the cart. I save money this way. And no kids asking for things that aren't on the list.:p

I don't use online grocery shopping because I can't--not offered in my area. But my best friend uses it regularly, and loves it.

I just checked it out. How I wish they delivered in my area.

I do my BIG shopping online and have it delivered, about every 2 weeks. Doesn't stop me from going in anyway and, getting more than what's on my list.

I love the delivery part, right into the house, I don't have to lug from the garage. :D

And, like stated, Peapod has weekly specials and takes coupons. I can shop and save my cart from week to week, thereby getting 2-3 weeks worth of sales in one delivery. ;)

I have done this since my twins were newborns, So more than 3 years. I think I was one of the first customers in this area. I can not say how much I love this service. To not have to drag the kids into the store. Impossible by the way when they were newborns. I would push the cart and drag the stroller behind me... Not fun!
I actually just submitted my order and logged back on to add butter that I forgot, and it will all be carried into my kitchen for me on Thursday morning! Oh the joy! In fact one of my boys just told me I had better call the grocery guy because we were out of his strawberries! it's like having a personnel assistant!

Publix used to do it here, and I LOVED it! I was sorry to see them discontinue it...abruptly! One day did it, the next day didn't! But their prices on items were definitely more expensive than in the store plus delivery charge.

I use it here on the Cape in the summertime...sure beats all those grocery store lines! I don't think there is a time I can go into the grocery store in the summer when there are no lines, unless I feel like going at 10pm or so.

We used Peapod too when I was pregnant with my younger DS. It was godsend. Now that the boys are older though, we prefer to go to the stores. ::yes::

We had WebVan, but it went out of business. If there's a market for this, it should become more widespread. It would be nice to have it locally again.

I use to use homegrocer.com. I loved it because, like others have said, there are no impulse buys. You have your list and in a few clicks you've got it all taken care of. I actually spent less money with that than I did actually going to the store because no matter how hard I try, I CANNOT buy ONLY what's on the list.

I also did it when my twins were infants. It was great. The company went out of business too. Ive often thought of doing again with peapod, but you know, most of the time I NEED to get out of the house.
