We are scheduled to leave tomorrow afternoon and head to Disney.. of course now this is all up in the air due to Hurricane Jeanne.

My question is where is the easiest place to stop for groceries on the way to Coronado Springs Resort? My husband is concerned with the hurricane threat that the stores will be mobbed.... did anyone experience this before with the other hurricanes.

I really don't care at this point if I have to pay more for the groceries.... quick and cenvenient are top priority now!

Thanks so much for any suggestions!

Hmm....well, Goodings is the closest being right outside the WDW gate near DTD but they're quite pricey. There's a Wal-mart and a Publix not far from Disney that I've read several suggestions on these boards about but not sure exactly where they are. I'm sure someone will come along and post for you who knows better. As for how mobbed? Can't really say down near WDW. I'm up in Palm Coast about an hour and a half away. Up here it's been crazy right before where there's no bread and milk and lots of bare shelves right before the storms hit. You may want to also check out Netgrocer I'm assumming the website would be Netgrocer.com . I've heard them mentioned several times on the boards too. They will deliver I believe.

Best of luck and Pixie dust. I'm leaving tomorrow morning for BCV's and hoping we at least will do better at Disney than to cancel and stay home. We've been planning this trip since Feb. and dh desparately needs this vacation. We figure at least Disney will regain power much quicker if it's lost as compared to here at home:( Hope the storm passes through quickly and clears up aftertwards.

barbanm,
I am not sure where you live or when you expect to arrive in the WDW area, so there are a couple things you need to be aware of. Yes, the stores will be very picked over and could be mobbed prior to the storm hitting and the store closing. The other issue is depending on when you get here, if it is before the storm, the stores could be closed so workers can get home and prepare. If it is after the storm, then stores could be closed because they don't have any power.

if you are staying on disney property there is really no need just pack a few extra drinks apples, chips snack food.. Disney will not let you go without.... the worst case is that you are holed up in your room for 24 hours and have to eat your stash of goodies...the town of celebration has a store kissimii has stores and off of 417 there are a few stores and a super target but.. the rush is already on so i would just pack extra junk food and enjoy!!!!

thanks everyone for your information... I think I am going to run out and pick up some snacks/drink boxes etc to take with us and pack extra diapers etc.

Here is another question.. do you usually cary on the airplane your back of munchies or do you check it. I would prefer to check it but not sure how stuff would holed up. ANy advice?

thanks so much for all your help

Can't give you an exact location but on the way to WDW from the airport (a little more than halfway I think) there is an exit we have passed many times and always wondered about. The landmark is a big Home Depot. You can see it from the highway but usually it's too late to turn by then so you have to watch for it. Anyway, we tried it last month and it was great - there were three supermarkets right off the exit as well as a whole bunch of stores of every type. I can't remember the names exactly but I think there was an Albertson's, Winn-Dixie and a Publix??

Have gone down to the 192/Kissimmee Super Walmart before from WDW and it took forever, won't do that again... Not sure where a closer WM is, anyone know? FYI: The Super Walmart was limited in their grocery selections for what we wanted for our trip, but they did have a lot of inexpensive Disney souveniers. Instead of saying "WDW", though, they said "Florida".

suggestions for plane we always take a greeen rubber maid tub with a lid on it pack it full of chips drink boxes snacks etc... close it then wrap it with tape it works great is easy to carry/stack and plenty of room for suviners on the return trip.....
the road is 417 and the exit is John young Parkway I belive and there is a grocery homedepot super target etc.... but i would not hold your breathe about stopping there as i have said the MAD RUSH is ON!!!!
