Grocery Prices at Goodings ~ let's help each other ºoº

Hi, we've been back from WDW a month!

We went to Goodings to buy groceries.

I wish I paid more attention to the prices of things so I could report them to you and also I could better set a budget for next years trip.

So I thought it would be nice if everyone who has recently gone to Goodings at Crossroads would add an item(s) with the price so we could all budget.

I'll start with the couple of items I remember!

1 loaf of whole wheat bread $0.99
1 large jar of baby food $0.75

I found the majority of staple items (diapers, cereal, peanut butter, etc...) to be overpriced compared to what I normally pay..and I live in NJ. The most major disappointment was the inflated cost of fruit!! We shopped at Goodings for 2 trips (using coupons too) and found that it is best in terms of convience and selection but, if you are interested in saving $$$ the best place is the super Walmart.

Does anyone know if Super WalMart is open 24 hours? I think that Debbie at Tiffany Towncar told me that Goodings would be open. We'll arrive around 1:00am and would like to do a quick grocery stop for bottled water and a few snacks.

last time we were there(summer 00), we picked up some 70 sunblock, have a daughter who doesnt have any pigment in her skin, so high block is needed! she didnt burn once! so, if u have little kids w/fair skin, or if u have fair skin...its well worth the price!
The prices for food are always outrageous there! Publix is somewhat better. Am looking into having webgrocer or equivalent deliver some food for us, am also taking some w/me in the suitcase that comes home filled w/xtra soveniers! we find taking packets of oatmeal works well for our kids, and we take along things like snacks, lipton noodles, spaghetti, etc. pick up fresh food once we arrive. also, i take coupons along, choose a few that i know we'll need while we're there, oj, butter, etc, it helps a lot!

Goodings is an expensive supermarket, I think the crossroads one is even more expensive targeting all the WDW captives. I don't believe there are any "Locals" in that area !

Wal Mart on the 192 is open 24 hours, not as well presented as Goodings but a lot lot cheaper.

if you have a car is to avoid Goodings entirely. I believe that they overcharge because they get away with it. We have been going to Superwalmart for the last several years since it opened up on 192. Before that we we would go to Pubilx or Food Lion. The only way I can discourage a business not to overcharge is to take my business elsewhere.

On our last visit to Fort Wilderness this last May, one of the cm told me that Winn Dixie bought out Goodings and went in and lowered the prices alot. I noticed they still have the Goodings sign up as well as the one on International Drive so I do not know if this is the real deal or just a rumor.

Perhaps I was not clear with my original post; I know Goodings is expensive, but I will still shop there. If anyone can add to the Goodings price list, I would surely appreciate it. Thank you.

You are correct about Windixie buying out Goodings, they did, EXCEPT for the one at Crossroad and the one in Celebration.
Eggs, 3.00 per dozen, large.

This is the budget board, avoiding Goodings is a very good budget tip. It's OK if you want to shop there, but you shouldn't be surprised that most of the respsonses to your question is don't shop there.

Hi all, thanks for posting. I am not surprised at all that people don't like spending money at Goodings. However, my post isn't about liking or disliking Goodings, it's about the prices of their products. I would like to apologize if I didn't make myself clear about that.

I disagree about this post not belonging on the Budget Boards because I did shop at Goodings and it still saved us money so we could afford to eat at 6 character meals.

Maybe I should leave this post as a Goodings debate and start another about a Goodings price list, since that's the info I am looking for.

april 2001, 12 pack pepsi 4.99. 2 liter bottle coke 1.79 and 1 qt. milk 1.79. Also 12 pack of bud lite was 3$ more than at super walmart.

SandraC, I think starting a new thread for posting prices of products at Goodings is a great idea! I don't have anything to post currently. We have a trip coming up and I'm very interested in finding out some of the costs. I've never shopped there before.

I don't think anyone said that your post did not belong here. I believe it was stated that the advice or answers would be don't shop there.
I for one am delighted that you saved money by shopping there, however, you may have been able to do 8 character meals had you shopped at Publix or Wal*Mart.

Does anyone know if I can get a styro-foam cooler at Goodings? And, if so, how much it will cost?

Goodings carries pretty much anything you need. Coolers, beer, food, sunscreen, health and beauty stuff, everything. Yes they are more expensive but they are VERY conveniently located and since when I'm on vacation I'm not looking to fight traffic to do a full grocery shopping I usually just use Gooding's. I'm sorry I don't know the price of the coolers but I'm sure you could get one there.
