I've heard you can have groceries delivered to your hotel. I have many questions. What grocery store delivers? We're going to
Disneyland in June and planning to stay at the Fairfield Inn. Has anyone had groceries delivered here? What does it cost? Will the hotel accept delivery for me or do I need to be present to accept delivery? How long is the wait for delivery? Any pros/cons for ordering groceries to be delivered? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Okay, I can't answer anything specifically about the Fairfield Inn, as I have never stayed there and don't know how they handle groceries. However, I am an old seasoned pro at ordering from Vons.com for home dleiveries, which is where you will need to place your order. Actually, it is Vons.com or Safeway.com (same thing/same company). Many, many DIS-ers order from Vons/Safeway for deliveries to any of the offsite or onsite hotels, and from what I hear, the hotes will generally accept the delivery for the guest if the guest is not there, but some of the hotels are starting to avoid doing that, so you may want to call FFI before you place your Vons order to be sure of their policy.
You will have to place a minimum $50 order with Vons to qualify for delivery, and sometimes on your
first order they will give you free delivery (not always, though). In the event you
do have to pay for delivery, it ranges anywhere from $6.95 (if you schedule a delivery during one of their 'magic' 4-hour windows that are highlighted in red on the delivery schedule page, that is a $6.95 price - those are usually on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and sometimes Thursdays) to $12.95. $9.95 is the usual delivery price for a 4-hour delivery window; $12.95 is the general price for a 2-hour window. There is no tax at all on any food items, but there is tax on anything non-edible, of course. They can deliver anything from meats to alcohol to fruits and veggies, medicines, fresh baked goods, water, frozen foods, dairy, flowers, etc. Lots to choose from. I have not yet had a Vons delivery to a hotel, but they have been delivering to me at home for years and years. They often make mistakes - I would say they have screwed up 60% of my orders in some way or another, but it is a valuable service to have so I keep using them!
