Is Von's still the go-to for grocery delivery to the DLH? Does the hotel refrigerate the groceries? Do you need to contact the hotel to arrange this ahead of time?

It may depend on your hotel. We stayed at the Carousel last Christmas and I contacted them ahead of time and they were happy to refrigerate our groceries for us. We used Von's and everything was just as ordered and waiting for us at checkin. I've never used another service so I can't compare but I'd use Von's again. I I ever calculated how much money we saved by having groceries, but we only bought one meal a day "out" so it was probably considerable!

I've never had a Vons delivery to a hotel at DLR, but I have used them at home for the last 11 years and I love the service. I think that for anyone staying more than a few days at DLR, the delivery of certain items could be really handy and worthwhile.

I've had Vons deliver to 2 separate hotels and one definitely refrigerated our perishables. I'm not sure about the other mostly because I don't think we ordered anything requiring refrigeration. The last hotel even chilled.our beer.

We let our hotel know the last time because we had perishables plus I don't think it could hurt to let the hotel know ahead of time. We ordered things like milk, cheese strings, and yogurt. Bottled water, Gatorades, and adult beverages are great convenience items to have delivered. I understand that Disney resorts won't accept deliveries with alcohol which is a shame. I'm staying on site next trip and maybe I'll arrange to have the order delivered when I am physically able to accept it

You don't have to tell the hotel ahead of time. We get Vons delivery every trip at GCH and they put the perishables in a separate marked bag and GCH refrigerates them until you call for them to be delivered to your room. The Disney Resort Hotels do NOT put your groceries in your room, they're stored at bell desk. Remember if you spend $150 you get free delivery (if it's not your 1st delivery which is free) and an hour window of time. I don't know if you can go down and sign for the alcohol though.

Since you can't have alcohol delivered we bring wine in our suitcase and my Mom just brings her Bailey's in her suitcase for her morning coffee (Yes, she's THAT Mom ) and if she doesn't drink it all (yeah right) we just toss it. But we order a case of water to have in the room and if we have leftovers (Now THAT we do always seem to have) we give them to the bell desk and they give them out to the bellman/valet.

I just like to arrive after a long day of travel and have my groceries waiting instead of having to make a trip to the store. Sometimes we do stop at Whole Foods in Laguna Beach but that's if we've flown in early. Vons is really convenient.

I don't drink alcohol, so don't have to worry about that part. :) it will be nice to just have everything there so I don't have to try to get to a store and lug the items to the hotel. It's a relief to know that perishables are separated and marked.

Thank you for the info!
