How can you get groceries delivered to your room without being there?
We will arrive around 1:30 by DME and want to go to the MK as soon as we get there. We do not want to deal with leaving the park early for a grocery delivery as every minute is priceless!

The only way I know of is to order thru DVC - the selection will be very limited and the cost higher, but I think your resort will deliver to the room for you - for a nominal delivery charge. (Information about this service is available on the member site).

I don't think the grocery services (like GardenGrocer or WeGoShop) are able to put anything into your room unless you are there.

I'd check the member site for information about the DVC service and/or call one of the private grocery services to see if they have any suggestions.

I do know that the grocery services can and will deliver your order to the resort and the Bell staff will store (perishables will be refrigerated) until you call the Bell desk for delivery or pick it up yourself. The first time we used GardenGrocer, our order was waiting for us with the Bell Staff when we arrived at the resort. Last week, they delivered our order within 10 minutes of our arrival while we were unpacking at our villa. I don't think the Bell Staff will deliver to your room in your abscence though.

Well, I am probably not going to answer you question, but I will offer an alternative.

I stayed at OKW in June 2005 and called a cab. It arrived in 10 minutes, took me to a grocery store. Dropped me off, and I called the same cab line when I was in line checking out. The cab came so fast, I hadn't made it through the line yet. I called again to be informed they had come and gone.
They sent another cab, and in 5 minutes I was on my way.

For us, the cab ride and fare was way cheaper than the delivery services, and it was really quite efficient.

I bet you can call a cab, be in and out and back in an hour or so.
So while others are unpacking, you can go run for the snacks, drinks, or whatever you need.

Also check in time is 4pm at many places, so if arriving before then, that would be a perfect time to make a run. If you have cell phones, you can meet up with your family shortly thereafter.

Sorry, I didn't directly answer your question. I just told you what I did and offer it as an option. Ofcourse it all depends on your arrival time and your situation.

Have fun!

The GardenGrocer delivery charge is $10 for orders under $200 - free for orders of $200 or more. Minimum order is $40.

Total cost includes cab fare or delivery fee PLUS the cost of goods.

The savings we realized was paying less per item.

You can buy on site too at some places, but expect to pay more per item for the convience.

dbewers,
We just went on a trip Jan 6th-10th 2007. We had our groceries delivered by GardenGrocer. We were in the parks when they arrived. GardenGrocer and the other food delivers have a it setup with the resorts to put the groceries at bellservice. They had huge refrigerators and freezers setup for groceries. All of our groceries had our name on the bags and bell service delivered them to our room. We have found that DVC prices are much higher than GG. For us this was the best way to get groceries to our room. Hope this helps.

We are coming into SSR in February and called the front desk at SSR, they told us that they don't deliver to the room, so we are just making sure we are at our room at the arranged delivery time. Since we dont have a car it would a real pain to lug all the stuff from the bell services to our room.

We were at SSR in November and used wegoshop. We filled out a paid out slip at the front desk and went to the parks. The groceries were delivered to bell services who held on to them. When we returned, we called bell services and they delivered the groceries to our room. We will definately do it this way again.

Bellservice delivered them right to our room. We had no problem and we are going to use them on our next trip. I friends just arrived today and they had no problem.
