This is our first trip staying on property and I need to place a grocery order but not really sure how it all works. I see people mostly talk about Garden Grocer and Amazon Now. Advantages/Disadvantages? How soon or how late can you place an order (we go 1st week Dec)? How does it work- you have to sit around and wait for them to deliver your stuff? Do they come to your room or do you go down to the front desk? Help please! :)

I started a cart for GG and Amazon Prime Now in 2 tabs on my computer, searched for the items I wanted on each site, and decided on GG because they had more items that I wanted. Their delivery fee, unfortunately, is higher than Amazon, but still came out to be cheaper than purchasing items onsite (ex, bananas are $2 each at the food court).

With Garden Grocer, you have to reserve a time slot and they offer discounts the earlier you order. You can also modify your order up until maybe 2 days prior? Amazon you can order and it will be delivered in 2 hours, I believe.

As far as delivery, we arrive today, so I'm not sure what to expect. There have been conflicting reportso about how packages are being handled as of late. Most likely it will be delivered to Bell Services and you can arrange to have them bring the package to your room.

I've ordered from Garden Grocer many times and have been very pleased with their service. They do have a delivery fee and I always add a tip, but for the convenience, it is worth it to me. They do a nice job selecting fruit and that is where I thought we'd get tripped up.

When we stayed at Fort Wilderness years ago, GG was allowed to go to our cabin and unload at the cabin. Not sure that is still the case. All other trips, they delivered to bell services or luggage assistance. I typically request a delivery time that is about the time I expect to be at the resort. With a late night flight, I have them deliver the next morning. You do NOT need to be at the resort to accept delivery. The resort staff will accept the delivery and refrigerate or freeze items as needed. When we stay at a value or moderate resort, we go to pick up our GG order from the resort storage. If I'm staying at a deluxe resort, I have bell services deliver the order. I always tip bell services or the folks who bring my bags from the storage area.

I plan to order from GG for my upcoming December trip.

Thank you! This is helpful! I have no idea how much stuff to order. I hear so many people comment how they have leftover things. Really don't want to waste stuff!

Very helpful- thank you!! I wasn't sure if they would refrigerate things. This is great. We are staying at AoA- flight gets in at 11. Should I schedule for mid afternoon you think?

I have not used Amazon, so I can not speak to that.
With Garden Grocer they have a website that you visit and shop "virtual aisles" for the items you want to order. You create a grocery list. You can also request items not on the site and they will get back to you. You can order beer & wine as well with a copy of your ID. You pick a delivery window for your delivery. Their delivery fee is $14 but I too found that I saved this amount over buying in the resort store.
They deliver to Bell Services at your resort who can refrigerate or freeze perishables. You can either pick up the order yourself at Bell Services or once you are in your room you can call down and they will deliver it to your room. Don't forget to tip for this service.

I'd probably schedule it for around 1:00. You'll get a text from GG saying they made the delivery. It often comes earlier than the time I thought they'd deliver. Then, they'll text again at least once more to make sure that you got your order and that everything was satisfactory. I like to get my order before we head out to the parks.

I also wanted to add that they will deliver alcoholic beverages. To order, you'll need to send them a copy of your government ID so they know you're of legal age.

I used Amazon Now in June and it worked great.

You can order 24 hours in advance so I ordered the day before. I scheduled the delivery to be 2 hours after we handed at MCO. It only look us about an hour to get to the hotel from MCO. After check in I didn't want to wait for the delivery (ie waste good park time lol) Bell Service said they would collect the order and I could call when I got back my room to have it delivered.

To my surprise (at 1am lol) when we got back to our room, bell service delivered all the items (even put the cold stuff... yogurt, juice etc) in the fridge.

I wasn't getting food to actually cook with... just snacks, water, juice, etc. Prime Now doesn't have as big as selection as GC so I would say it depends on what you are wanting. If you have a full kitchen and want to cook I would think GC.

I've used GG twice now, and chose them over Amazon because they also deliver beer and wine. Not sure if that matters to you.

We have used Garden Grocer multiple times and have always been happy with them. Our orders have always been on time and correct. They also have communicated by text and by a phone call after delivery. Have a nice trip!

I've used GG several times. As others have said, it's easy to order online...they have virtual aisles with snacks, lunchmeat, drinks, etc. I find they have a good selection of items that my family likes, plus, we can order beer and wine though them. I order ahead of time (sometimes a month before our trip, sometimes a week before...the earlier you order, the more of a discount you can get) and reserve a delivery time for about an hour before my plane lands. GG has always left our order with bell services before I've arrived; bell services keeps the cold items in their fridge area and holds on to the other items; when we get to the hotel, I go to or call bell services after I officially check in and ask for my GG to be sent to my room. I go to my room and start unpacking, and my GG order usually arrives really quickly. Easy easy easy, and I will be using them again for my trip this December.

We also use GG every trip and have been very happy. As PPs have mentioned, just pick a time the day you are arriving, and they will hold it if you are at the parks. They text you when delivered, and will call later to see if it was satisfactory. There is a $40 min., and there is usually a discount for ordering in advance(5% for 15 days, etc. - will be on website). We like to order a case of water, half gallon of milk, variety pack cereals, goldfish, cheese sticks, apple slices, carrots, pretzels, etc. These are things that make for quick brft, snacks for park bag, afternoon snack, or for something to snack on before bed. The prices are a little high, as I am a buy on sale/use coupon gal, but it is not too crazy. We also pack bowls, spoons, Ziploc bags to use with these, as well as fruit snacks, granola bars and stuff that will hold up in suitcases. For our family, hungry = grumpy, so we are prepared!

This is a great idea. Is it permissible for someone to post the GG link here?

also, has anyone shipped a box of non-perishable groceries to the resort (e.g. granola)? We are staying at the Poly if that makes a difference. TIA!!
