Grocery delivery/food delivery?

Since we are staying at a vacation house again on our WDW vacation, I was wondering if there are any grocery stores or places that will deliver groceries and whatnot to vacation homes? Also, are there any restraunts/cafes that will deliver? (besides the obligatory pizza/chinese food places :teeth: )

TIA!!

A lot of Diser's mention using Wegoshop. If you do a search on the DIS you'll likely find some info about them.

As for food-- we found pretty good pizza (and we are very picky about pizza) at Flippers. It was in the Old Town area and they delivered.

We used Wegoshop last year and I would not do it again. Although the service was prompt and courteous, I feel that I could get much better prices for the food and would make selections that are much better for my family. We spent $200 and we had to do a huge shopping 3 days later. We usually spend about $100 a week on groceries for my family of 4.

I have noticed that some villa owners will provide a "welcome pack" with coffee and a few essentials. You might want to try that to tide you over until you can get to the store.

For restaurants that deliver to your villa, we've used : http://www.giordanos.com/
Pizza is the primary menu item, but they also have soups, sandwiches, salads and pasta dishes. It's a shame more places like this don't offer delivery. There may be others, but I'm not aware of any so I'd be interested in hearing any feedback on this as well.

Kilee,
Do you have a website or phone number for Flippers ? Do you know if they deliver to the wdw resorts as well ? Thanks

407-396-1202. Almost positive they deliver to WDW.

I usually go to the one by Sea World, not the Lake Buena Vista one, but theirs is the best "chain" pizza I've found in central FL.

Thanks Jason !

It helps that I have a Flippers menu in the top drawer of my desk--that should tell you something! :)

I have to say that I disagree with this sentiment. We haven’t use wegoshop in Orlando, but we have used the service elsewhere. If you are unfamiliar with it, wegoshop will shop wherever you tell them to shop. You pick the store, you make out the shopping list. You can get as specific as you want – detailing exact brands if you like. Your instructions can be as detailed as you like. Our experience is that those instructions will be followed quite faithfully. So, if you know what you want, it’s pretty hard to go wrong. If you are unfamiliar with choice of stores in Orlando, just stay with national brands.

Wegoshop just charges you for the service – usually about $25 for orders above $100. That seems pretty fair to me. $25 covers both the shopping and the delivery.

As for the $200 dollars not going very far, you have to remember that you are starting from scratch on vacation. When you shop at home you already have lots of stuff on hand you don’t have to buy every week. But when you shop on vacation, you end up spending a lot of money on staples like salt, pepper, sugar, mustard, ketchup, cleaning supplies, paper towels, coffee filters and so on. When you have to buy all this stuff at once it gets quite expensive and will significantly inflate your shopping bill. Be prepared for this.

I disagrees too.

I ordered last year - they got exactly what I told them to get. No extra and certain not alot of money (and I am cheap).

You have to give exact details - don't just say bread - tell them Publix whole wheat thin slide bread and that is what you will get.

they shop at the stores you tell them.

I like Publix - it has generally smaller sizes than Walmart. so you can get the smaller amounts. (which is not always the best price).

go to your grocery store (especially if you have a Publix or winnie-dixie) and write down exactly what is on the label that you want to get.

the more exact you are, the happier you will be with your order.

sorry your order did not live up to your expectation. but mind certainly did - they got exactly what I order and the brand names.

I like fresh fruit and lettuce - at WDW this is very, very expensive. even adding their delivery fee and tip - $20 + $5 - I saved alot of money!!!!

Actually, I think this kind of shopping service actually saves us money. In the past when we have rented someplace with a kitchen, I have done the shopping myself. The problem is that I shop stupid when I’m on vacation. Normal rules do not apply. I start buying things I would never consider otherwise – lobster quiche, cocktail weenies, anything with whipped cream, massive bottles of German beer, obscure French cheeses, that weird looking asian fruit I never give a second glimpse at home, an expensive piece of fresh fish (that I may or may not actually get around to cooking) and the largest collection of premium potato chips you have ever seen.

But if we shop through wegoshop, then we tend to make the kind of correct, boring choices that will get eaten and won’t significantly raise our collective cholesterol.

I'm not familiar with Publix or Winn-Dixie. Could I say something like "2 loaves of the cheapest wheat bread" and have them make cost decisions like that? I wouldn't know if the store brand is cheaper or if they had a brand name on sale, etc.

Joy

publix is pretty good about their brand names being the cheapest - even doing a sale.

although lately there has been a time or two - when the brand name was cheaper

so your method should work.

they will give you a phone number to call - once they receive your order.
be sure to give them yours if you think there might be problems.

Thanks everyone for the reference to Wegoshop. :) That should save us a lot of $$$ since last year my family (inlaws, dm, dsister..) FORCED my dh and I to go shopping at the Super Walmart.

Never again!!!! For one, we waisted a WHOLE day, the first full day of our vacation at a stupid Walmart when we could of been at MK , AND we had a whole bunch of crap to lug home with us.

Also, my dm and dsister got it in their head that they would have cheap WDW souvies at SW.... :confused3 I TRIED to explain them it would just be generic Disney stuff, with nothing to do with WDW but they didn't listen and we spent 2 freakin' hours in the souvie section of the store... :headache:

This time everyone is going to be on my "Like it or Lump it" vacation. lol

1.We're NOT going to do ANY shopping at stores whatsover until Wednsday and that is only if we REALLY need to.

2. NO cooking on days we are planning to go to the parks . This is because several days my dm , dmil, and dsister took it upon themselves to cook an elaborate breakfast/lunch/dinner for us that took half a day to make.. NO more of that crap!! lol If it ain't fast food, frozen food, resteraunt, delivery, or something that takes minutes to whip up, we ain't doin' it!! :teeth:

Have you asked if the owners management or agency can provide this service -alot do for a fee and you can usually tailor the requirements to suit

QUESTION: for wegoshop services, do you need to be present for delivery? or can you pay in advance including shipping/tip & have them leave it w/bellhop till you get back from parks????

thanks in advance for info!
