Grocery Delivery - deadline for ordering?

I was just wondering if there was a deadline for ordering your groceries for delivery to the hotel? My friend wants to wait until I get to her place on 10/17 to plan and put in our grocery order for delivery at DLH on 10/19. Is this too short a timeframe, or will we be okay?

The problem will be is if they don't have any delivery times available. Or any times where you could actually be present (if the store won't leave it with the front desk and/or if the front desk won't accept it).

So it really is better to order ahead of time, so you have your wished-for delivery time.

With Safeway (Vons in southern CA) the charge has NEVER come through for me until the day AFTER the delivery.

Perhaps it would be safer to order earlier rather than later? I agree with PP...you may not get them when you want them. GL

Thanks, guys! My sentiments exactly - I'll be speaking with her this weekend, and I think I'm just going to go ahead and put in an order. If she thinks of anything she wants after that, we can try to bring it with us in our suitcases (as long as it isn't perishable or "squooshable" - haha!) I'd much rather be sitting in my room in my jammies eating a quick bite than getting up early to go stand in line somewhere.

When I ordered from Albertsons a few weeks ago, they stated (after I placed my order) that i could actually change my order up until 10pm the night before delivery. i don't think they actually "shop" for you until the day of delivery, so its best to get your delivery time set up and then make adjustments if necessary. hth

This is true for Vons, too!! Place your order now - you can later (within a day or 2) see a link were you can click on the order to edit it, once you are logged in. Make sure you confirm changes in your cart!!! You will also get an email detailing anything you have changed on your order, but you will not get another list of the entire shop, so print out your list when you initially place your order. The only thing that can't be changed is that a coupon code can not be applied once the initial order is placed, so make sure you use your free ship code that they send you by email when you first sign up, etc. Good luck!!!

AWESOME!!! I think I got the ball rolling now, so we should have our list mostly finalized by tomorrow, and when I get to her house we can revise, if necessary. If it's too late, no biggie - it's only 5 days. We're all semi-Pooh-sized, so it's not like we'll be wasting away. haha

I really don't know what I'd do without these boards and all you wonderful folks.
