Nena~I got my 2 envies yesterday, thank-you. Apparantly I'm lucky that I still have a mailbox. Friday night sometime, I'm assuming it was kids (teenagers) rode down our street and decided to smash in mailboxes....and guess who got the worst of it. Yep we did, and our neighbor. GRRRRRRR. Why do people destruct other peoples property? I wish we had the community mailboxes, maybe if this keeps up the post office will change them out here and get rid of the single box at each curb. My little door doesn't close properly and its smashed on the side and cracked the wooden post it sits on.

About 10 years ago we had our mailbox smashed during Christmas break-it was cold out & the box was plastic-it shattered in a 1000 pieces.We got a replacement box & they beat it up too.We then started to bring the mailbox in every Friday & Saturday night-it was a real pain-but we couldn't see sticking lots of money into mailboxes.So- my husband attached the mailbox to the post with a bunge cord & it was then mobile.
Finally that group of kids graduated HS & went their merry ways!

So then a car alarm went off and I jokingly said we should put a car alarm on our mailbox....then hubby says we should hook it up so it EXPLODES!!!! OMG. It was the funniest thing ever, we were cracking up, my husband was saying, "can you imagine how scared they would get if they hit it again and the thing went KA BOOOOM!!! If not for anything else we got a good laugh out of it all.

We were going through about a mailbox a year for the first 10 years we lived here. Then a few years ago my brothers friend made us a mailbox out of steel about 1/2 inch thick and it looks like a real mailbox,then my DH bolted it to another piece of steel and hollowed out a 4x4 and put that over the steel pipe that is in the ground and concreted it a few feet into the ground. It has been about 5 years and we haven't had a bit of problems with our mailbox. ( It just looks like a normal mailbox on a wooden post.)

Magical_mama am sending out an big envi, maybe 2 tomorrow. I just can't seem to get rid of this headache to day to get out. Plus I had a lot to go through and sort.

On a different note, have to share w/ this some one. this past wknd I took my class and got my Motorcycle liscense!!! DH got a bike about 1 1/2 yrs ago and has been after me to get my liscense also. My excuse at first is that I still had one kid at home. Well in August he got a bigger, better bike (now we have 2) and my youngest went to kindergarden. So I broke down and did it. It was actually fun but now to learn to ride "my" bike. LOL
