Groceries

We are staying 3 nights after our cruise in Dec. Has anyone gone shopping for groceries by Taxi, Bus, on foot? Last year we used the grocerey shopping list from the resort,(Saratoga Sp.), and were kind of dissapointed in the price and quality of the food delivered. There will be 4 adults in our group. We will not have a rental car. Any suggestions as to Cabs or other ideas are appreciated.. Nearest Supermarket, Wal-Mart Superstore, Etc....

I always go grocery shopping off property - ask for the Winn Dixie not Goodings right outside downtown gates. The cab fare for the extra 3 miles is more than made up for in cheaper prices!

Rent a car from the port area and use it to get back to WDW and to go shopping. The rental is less the paying for other transportation and you can save some money on your groceries. We like to shop at Publix which is only a few miles from WDW.

I was just sitting here preparing my list for gardengrocer.com. They are a grocery delivery service, they have a list on their site, if you don't find something you want, you can put a request in. They will also deliver beer, wine, etc. Gardengrocer will set up a delivery time with you, if you are not at your villa, they will leave them with the bell hops, who will refrigerate/freeze accordingly.

My list so far - coffee, cream, sugar, OJ, bagels, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Bread, Boars Head Turkey, 3 liter bottles of water, gatorade G2, Mug Root Beer, Miller Lite. Sunscreen, shaving cream.

We just returned and we used wegoshop.com for the 5th time, and once again we were completely satisfied. I highly recommend Marge and her service. They will shop at the store you request and the cost is the cost of the actual groceries, plus a delivery fee. We more than saved the delivery fee over the cost of ordering from Disney
