We will be taking DME this time to our resort. In the past, we either had a car or hired a limo service whci allowed us to make a stop for food. With DME, we will not be able to make a grocery stop. What other options are there for getting groceries to our resort?

If they are non-perishable you can mail yourself a package to your resort. That might help some of what you need. I guess you could always get a taxi to and from Box-Mart. Just have a list, be prepared and run like the daisies thru the store.:dance3:

Someone on these boards had mentioned garden grocer of orlando. Just do a search. They do full delivery. Looks like a great service.

I've used Goodings (www.goodings.com) 3 times. It's a local supermarket that offers delivery. They tend to be expensive, but very very convenient. The website makes it look like they offer a pretty limited selection, but you can order anything they stock on the shelves at their store, you just have to ask. Gooding's can't deliver alcohol, the other two (below) can.

Many many people use Garden Grocer (www.gardengrocer.com), a stand-alone delivery service. They can "sell out" of openings during popular times, so order as early as is practical for you.

There's also We Go Shop (www.wegoshop.com), another stand-alone grocery delivery service.

We used wegoshop last July and they were really good. Delivered right on time and had everything and I had a large order! They even asked about sales! I will use them again this summer. It was a great way to begin the trip. I sat at the pool while they shopped and brought it too me. :yay:

Goodings shops (naturally) just at Goodings. Service/delivery charge and minimum delivery exist but unknown off the top of my head
Garden Grocer apparently shops at a single store/chain - deduction based on their website with its listed items and specific pricing. $12 service/delivery charge, $40-$50 minimum order, service charge drops to $0 for a $200+ order, may drop incrementally as well.
We Go Shop will shop at the single store of the customer's choice. $17 service/delivery charge, minimum unknown

We've used Garden Grocer for years and never had an issue. Mainly get drinks and breakfast items. Just used them last Sunday:thumbsup2

Thanks! This is the first time we use DME. Couldn't firgure out how to do small grocery shopping list using them. Looks like we have some options for getting a shopping order together and delivered to the resort. I would guess paying the delivery fee is cheaper than taking a taxi to the grocery store (cannot remember the name) by TGI Fridays and Chevy's near DTD?

If you are just getting a few groceries and feel the cost of garden grocer or a taxi is prohibitive, another choice is public transportation. This is what we always do. Go to the TTC (MK) and take the # 56 Lynx bus. It runs 2 times an hour, usually on the 23's and 53's. If you get off at Publix/ Walgreens it will take about 17 minutes. There is a Walmart Superstore, and Target further along the line. The bus driver should be able to direct you. Cost is about $1.75 each way. If you are getting heavy things you may want to get a taxi back to your resort.

We've used garden grocer 3 times. No issues. On time, everything as expected. Will continue to use.

We just used Garden Grocer and it was GREAT!!:thumbsup2:cool1::banana::thumbsup2:cool1::banana:

Many DVC'ers use either Garden Grocer or WeGoShop. I have only tried GG so far. I researched the heck out of both before chosing GG & I think both offer fine service. Both will deliver beer or alcohol too if you fax a copy of your ID.

The biggest thing for me was that WeGo prefers that you use cash which requires you to be there to receive the order. You CAN use a credit card but they have an additional fee of about 13% I think it is to use a credit card. I knew we were arriving early & that our villa would not be ready yet and we would want to head out to the parks. I wanted to go ahead & get our order delivered in the afternoon and just have it left with Bell Services so it would be there when we returned to check into our villa. I knew we would not be around. GG allows you to use a credit card without this extra fee.

The other big difference is that Garden Grocer has a pre-set selection of items on their website that you select from and the items are marked up in price. It is a more limited selection than WeGo. With WeGo you specify what store you want them to shop at if you have a preference and you actually type in the exact product name & size. WeGo then gives you the receipt from where they shopped so you pay the exact item price but then they charge a higher delivery fee (last time I checked I think their fee was $17 compared to $12 with GG). I figure it's a wash in the overall prices. I really based my choice on the whole credit card vs cash thing. Marge at WeGo is very nice & helpful but I think they're smaller so that's the reason for the cash preference.

Gotta give a :thumbsup2 to Garden Grocer. Used them last trip and will be using them on our upcoming trip.

We have used wegoshop.com 6 times and are very happy with them.
Anal Annie has a nice comparison of the 2 services. The reasons we chose wegoshop are that I prefer to type my own list rather than walk a "virtual aisle" like you do at Garden Grocer. Also they will guarantee a 30 minute delivery window, not a 2 hour window like Garden Grocer. I always choose a late afternoon/early evening (5:00 - 5:30) delivery time and they deliver right to my room/Villa. They have always been right on time. We usually check in around noon and head to Epcot. We are returning to our room to unpack and settle in around 5 anyway, so this works out perfectly for us.
I recommend them highly.

If you mail things to your resort, do you use overnight shipping, or simply guesstimate the amount of time it will take? How will your resort know it is for you?

Can you pack food into your luggage these days? I never know what can be taken along due to security reasons!
