Is there an easy way to get groceries at the stores if we don't have a car. We are staying at SSR as a guest and we would like to cook breakfast - but we would be subject to Disney's bus system.

Any suggestions?

Order what you want from WeGoShop.com. Amy is wonderful and will shop at whichever particular store you want. Very reasonable fee for amazing convenience. :)

We have used www.gardengrocer.com with great success. We were traveling with another family and shared the delivery fee. Got cases of water, soda, Capri Sun, yogurt, tortilla chips, salsa, muffins, donuts, fruit and probably other things I am not thinking of. Good variety and punctual service.

How many groceries do you need? If you are only making breakfast, it may work out cheaper to pay the inflated prices in the SSR shop. They have basics like eggs, bacon, cereal, milk, coffee, etc. at convenience store prices.

The shopping services referenced in previous posts are worth considering, but they do charge a fair amount in fees and (optional) tips. They are usually only worthwhile if you're going to buy quite a few groceries.

Taking a taxi to a supermarket is another option, but the cab fare may eat up any savings you'd achieve, plus you're losing time out of your vacation to shop.

We ordered Garden Grocer also and they delivered additional items for free. I purchases some alcohol from them too. The store prices on site were crazy at CBR (15.00 for a 6 pack of beer) I also brought packages of oatmeal and used heated water from the coffee pots in the AM. We would have PB and J's sometimes to hold us over during the day and juices for the kids.

You could order from GardenGrocer as others have mentioned or you could walk to the Goodings at the Crossroads from Downtown Disney, we usually do this to pick up cold meats, salad, bread etc for making a lunch in the resort to give us a change from always eating out. It is about a 15 minute walk. :)

Take a cab to Winn Dixie on Rt 535. You can pick up exactly what you want and it will cost less than having someone shop for you. The drawback is that it will take time out of your vacation to do it.

Goodings is closer (in the Crossroads Shopping Center, ~1 mile from SSR), but their prices are inflated. It's better to go a little further, especially if you have a lot to purchase.

If you only want a few things. I agree with the poster who suggested just buying from the grocery in the main building. They carry staples and the prices are a little higher than the neighborhood grocery stores, but you'll save the cost of cab fare or a delivery service.

I would pack anything that you can. Coffee, pancake mix, salt, oatmeal etc can be put into resealable plastic bags and packed into checked luggage very easily. Pack small amounts of salt and pepper and any other spices you may want. Cereal bars, pop tarts etc can be packed if you have room.
