Groan!! Calling all of the DIS fashion mavins ....

Okay, here's the scene .... I'm 48 years old. I was married for 21 years, separated for 2 1/2 years and recently divorced. An old acquaintance has come back in to my life and wants to take me out to dinner.

Now, remember, I haven't dated in over 23 years! <groan> So, my question is, what do people wear on dates (I'm talking dinner to a restaurant a little more upscale from Applebees)??? I realize that things are a lot more casual than they used to be, but I'm still baffled. Pants? Skirt? Dress?

Someone said to think business casual, but since my usual workday attire is Docker khakis and a T-shirt, that didn't help.

Calling all of the DIS fashion police..... HELP !!!!!!!!

If the restaurant is just a step above Applebee's you really don't want to go overboard. I think the Docker's Khaki's would be fine and so would the T-shirt as long as it's a *nice* T-shirt (new, stylish, good fit). Some other options would be a khaki skirt, denim skirt. I wouldn't go any dressier than that because you don't want to appear to be overdressed in a place like that.

I would go with black pants and a cute top. Black pants are always safe!

don't forget some 'hot' accessories!

black pants with a fitted white shirt - with red shoes!

also - you can't go wrong with a twin set - you can take the cardigan off to show a little skin too!

I would say maybe nice dress pants and a nice top. Or if you wanted a skirt, maybe a denim skirt or a longer cotton skirt that looks casual.

Simple, casual but classy. Nice dress slacks and a nice top. I thought the twin set was a great idea. It never hurts to look your best, just in case this "friend" turns into something more.
