How wet do you get on GRR? it looks like a lot of fun but i dont want to be head to toe soaked. its one of the only rides i have not been on. i watched the drop from the fence and people dont seem to be too wet. i think white water rapids at 6 flags ruined those rides for me when i went down backward and basically had a tidal wave come over me.

i dont mind getting wet just not completely soaked. like riding splash mountain and sitting in the back seat. you get wet but not a whole lot.

It is completely random. I rode on it three times back to back and didn't get a drop on me. And another time I rode it once and was completely drenched.

Yup, it's a crap shoot. Sometimes you end up on the dry side and sometimes you end up going into the rapids backwards and getting a tidal wave over your shoulder. The only way to guarantee a dry time is to sit it out.

You just never know how wet you will be at the end of the ride.

I've ridden it and didn't get a drop on me until the end of the ride where the geyser shoots up.

One thing I have noticed for me, is if you do NOT it sit in a seat at the load opening, you might not get as wet. The water can really pour in there.

Others have said to put you feet over the drain holes in the bottom as you slide down the shoots.

We have learned to always put anything we don't want wet in the free lockers over by the FP machines.

I can manage with wet pants and shoes, it's a wet top that bothers me. Carry an extra top in the back pack for incase, it's easy to make a quick change after the ride.

Give the ride a try, it is fun!

Every time I have gone on GRR I have gotten soaked! SOAKED! So, you may not get soaked, but I wouldn't count on it. That being said, it is a lot of fun and if it is hot out (and you aren't wearing jean shorts) you dry off pretty fast.

We usually hit Disney parks in the winter, so we'll usually bring along ponchos that we'll wear on this ride or it's sister in FL, Kali River Rapids.

I've seen people get soaked. That usually happens right after they laugh at someone else for getting a little wet. It's called Water Ride Karma.

SOAKED. You can have a person on the boat basically dry, the rest of them soaked. There's no way to dodge the water once you're on. We rode multiple times when we stayed at GCH. At the beginning we thought if we avoided sitting next to the loading area we wouldn't get as wet- yeah, that didn't work. The ride is a blast, but if you're anxious the entire time about how wet you might get, and mad when you get soaked because it might ruin your park experience, it will be miserable.

As far as I'm concerned, the only way to ride is when you're staying at the Grand Californian. Then it's just a hop, skip, and a jump back to your room to change.

We make it our last ride for the day, that way if we are soaked. its not that long beofre we get "home" and dried..


as others have said... it is hit or miss as to who gets soaking... last time I was drenched , and it came up from the bottom holes.. so yeah I tell people to make sure their feet are over the "blow hole"

For both Splash and GRR we prepare to get drenched (my youngest loves the front seat on splash). We all put our water shoes on and put our shoes in the stroller, lockers or plastic gallon bags and take them with us. I bring a spare set of bottoms for myself. My boys actually get into their swim shorts and shirts before getting on either one. This has saved a lot of chafing and tears about being wet. We find it much more enjoyable when we know we can get dry again quickly and not have wet shoes or pants.

Every single time I've ridden GRR I've gotten that kind of soaked where water is pouring off you and there's not an inch on you that's dry. Other than my camera, which I've double ziplocked to keep it dry. My DS11 on the other hand barely get's wet (much to his dismay!). Put your feet over the drain holes at the bottom of the raft and avoid the end seats. Even this is no guarantee of avoiding getting wet. Best bet is to wear a poncho, so that even if a huge wave comes over the raft and get's you it won't be as bad.

Soaked shoes are the worst, and hard to dry out. We bring flip flops in our backpack, and change just before getting on, storing our shoes in one of the free lockers by the ride entrance. We also time our rides on both GRR and Splash for just before we're heading out of the parks for an afternoon break or at the end of the day.

im planning on staying at GCH in december for a mini xmas party for me and my girlfriend. maybe we will ride then. i hear they take the water level down in the colder months anyway. thanks guys

Wear a rain poncho and be sure and keep your feet lifted. That is what we did last time because we didn't want to be soaked that day. The person sitting next to me looked like she had gotten out of a shower, and said next time she was bringing a poncho like me. I don't think I have ever ridden it where if I didn't wear a poncho I haven't looked like I fell in a pool when it was over. Also, if your girlfriend is planning on taking a purse, she can put a big ziplock bag inside of it to slip the purse in for the ride. You could also keep a small one tucked in a pocket for your wallet and phone.

"WRK" also kicks in if you are foolish enough to speculate that someone else in your raft is about to get soaked. Inevitably, splash, right on the speculator.

In 2009 the family rode GRR and assured me I wouldn't get wet. Fool that I am I went on it. On the first drop a huge wave came over the raft and I got drenched head to toe, while the rest of the family barely got wet. Since then it's been the same way. Every single time I go on GRR, and I come off looking like a drowned rat. Time to wear a poncho.

Random potential for being soaked completely to the bone. Probably more often than not, actually.

I've gotten seriously drenched every time I've rode (maybe 10x's over the years total). I love that ride!
