Grizzly River Run vs Kali River Rapids

Being a Mom of a couple of little ones, I know that GRR has a 42" height restriction, KRR is only 38". So this would also lead me to believe that GRR is a bit more "wild"!!! :goodvibes

Anyway, I can't wait until my little one reaches 42" so we can all go on it, we're 3 inches away!

Hey - to answer the question from an earlier poster on page 1 - I have ridden both - it's been a while for KRR though - timing of the last few trips were in winter on chilly days.

I was going off old info - a conversation I had with an Imagineer before GRR was actually built. He was saying that they were taking the same KRR design and dropping it in - a money saving technique, like what they did with Indy and Countdown to Extinction/Dinosaur.

I honestly really never noticed a difference or the addition of other drops in GRR, but then I only ride GRR about once a year, due to toddlers and what we want to do together as a family. I did know they had a method of "turning up the soak factor" - they do that in WDW, too for the cooler seasons, but you can never count on that as a method to determine wildness - at DL, WDW, Six Flags, Silver Dollar City, etc.

well i have been on both and i was completly soaked after krr and i had to buy a towel. (i love my animal kingdom towel) Grr i have never gotten wetter than half a leg or such.

But it does depend on where you are when you go through the drops.. i think tbh they are 100% the same. if you like KRR then GRR will be a nice change of pace. If you dont like KRR then you probably wont like GRR theming or not..

Went on it last April, and everyone inside got drenched. And not so much from the drop, as it was from the geyser!! Like a darn fire hydrant pounding us. I mean we were soaked...........hair plastered to our heads, shorts and shoes shlushing. (Is that a word?):lmao:

Thank goodness it was hot!!

Oh, and we all laughed pretty hard afterwards. We looked a sight!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

GRR has two modes that Disney can adjust between. One is more wild and more likely to get riders wet. The other is less wild and less likely to get riders wet. They of course use the wild mode when it is warm out and mild mode when it is cold. April is in between so not sure which you were on. Just FYI.

We went on a day that it was 102 degrees. It was the hottest day of our vacation of 8 days in Los Angeles.

We've been on both rides. GRR is much more fun than the KRR. There are more ups and downs, more twirling on the GRR. When we went to WDW and did the KRR, it was a one-time ride -- kind of blah really. We didn't have the desire to do it again and again. However on the GRR, we did it about 5 times a day we were there!

to say the least GRR are intense. It has 2 drops and on both of them you spin while dropping. so it randomizes your chance of getting wet.
