Gripe WDW with boys!
Either toy story or maybe a pirate theme or something. I think Disney would be surprised that a character meal like that could be just as popular as the princess breakfasts especially for all the boys out there. I'm sure there are also girls out there who aren't into princesses who might like a pirate breakfast as well or maybe do a pirate & princesses breakfast like the parties. Come on Disney give us something!
Yes, yes...I am a mother of a little girl who is NOT into princesses or wearing dresses, but would flip over a toy story meal...and she LOVES cars, I get frustrated because she always wants to buy boys clothes...it is hard to find cars stuff for girls...and Sally isn't her fave character, Li-Queen (as she calls him) is. She also prefers Diego over Dora, such the Tom Boy I have. :)
So, even though I have a girl I sort of feel your pain.

My DS had an awesome time at Hollywood and Vine last year. (My daughter did too.) I complete agree with the earlier posters about the lack of boy stuff in general. I was so glad to see the Easter outfits for boys AND girls at the Disney Store this year.

::OK, breathing again and off my soapbox::

I would pay as much for a truly "BOY" experience as I do for the princess breakfast. Give me Peter Pan with soft swords instead of magic wants. Give me Toy Story with blocks.

When we stayed at ASMo last year, DD was hoping for a room in the Toy Story section for her brother. She was over the moon when we walked into the room!! Turned to her brother and said "See Zach, we can go to the castle and eat with Cinderella for me, but we can come back to Buzz and Woody every night for you."

I didn't read all the replies, but I too am a mom of 2 boys, twins age 7. We took them to WDW for their first trip last May. While there does seem to be more "girly" things we didn't have a shortage of boy stuff to do either.

One thing I didn't see mentioned was to pop them over to the WDW Speedway and watch the race cars. My boys (all 3 including Dad) had the best time over there. It was no charge to watch. My kids have never seen a NASCAR car that close before, so to them it might as well been the Daytona 500. They loved it.

The Lego Store and all the cool lego statues at DTD were also a favorite. Again, free....unless the boys talk you into buying anything.

Their favorite was the Star Wars stuff at MGM, but last year they were doing the Jedi Academy early and longer. I think getting to train with a Jedi Master and fight with Darth Vader was their favorite part of the trip. They also loved the Star Tours ride and Tatooine gift shop. They also loved the playgrounds at MGM and AK. Nothing better to a boy than climbing and running.:) Unfortunately, we missed POTC due to refurbishments. I know they'll love that when we return next year.

My boys also liked the character meals at Ohana (with Stitch) and Crystal Palace with Pooh & Friends. My one son is a piglet freak and even still is now at 7....but he doesn't want his friends to find out now. :lmao: I let them each choose one character meal for our trip. But I also agree that there should be a more boycentric option for a character meal. I know given the option they would have chosen Toy Story or The Incredibles over anything else......well except Piglet. :)

... but all the princess, frilly, lacy kind of stuff is not my thing! I marvel at how little boys' clothes are comfortable and practical and so many little girls' clothes are just pretty and neither comfortable nor practical! :sad2: I found great clothes for my son at GAP and elsewhere, but it's practically a miracle if I find something that isn't PINK and frilly for my daughter! :confused3

To the OP - we're taking both my son and daughter to Play N Dine, Crystal Palace and Whispering Canyon Cafe. We'll be there for MNSSHP and Magical Beginnings, so we're doing those special things with both of them. Someday, if my daughter really insists on something like BBB, I guess we might try it. I don't know... not my kinda' thing, but if it's hers, OK. I'd be happier doing things with both of them together that they both enjoy. I would hope my daughter will find pirates and Star Wars as cool as I did as a kid... who knows? :)

Even if you are not staying at a resort on the monorail, go for the ride and ask one of the conductors about riding in the first car with the "pilot". My DH , dad and DS got to do a few years ago. ;) It might be worth it to wait a ride or two just to do it!

I see that alot of people are writing about POTC which is true for older boys. However, when you have little boys like the OP, they are too young for the movies. Therefore, they have no idea what a pirate is and may even be scared by them. They have no frame of reference.

I think the beauty of pirate themed attractions is that there is the potential to tie-in to both PotC for the older boys and Peter Pan for the youngers. I don't think there was ever a time when my son didn't know what a pirate was, thanks to Peter Pan, Hook, and later, PotC and Pirateology (book) and other books & movies.

Pipe in on the boys clothes issue(DS 11 is 5'2" and DS 5 is average size).

My favorites are Lands End(especially for dress clothes, nice button down shirts), Hannah Anderson(great tees and knit shorts, wait for sale prices), Polo(wait for sales always), CWKIDS has some nice stuff also. I haven't had problems with Old Navy.

I refuse to buy Kohl's private label stuff as I think it runs very small in length and both my guys have long torsos.

Don't even ask about DH, it's harder finding those 36x40 size pants!

As for WDW, just glad I don't have girls who are into the Princess scene, we were just happy youngest got out of the Star Wars store without wanting to add to his extensive collection of light sabres!

Dh usually has to drag me out of children's sections in the store. I start babbling like a crazy lady. Seriously. "Why are there racks of dresses and all they have for boys is SWEATER VESTS" UGH I guess girls are supossed to wear cute stuff while boys either wear khakis or sweat pants.

As far as the Disney stuff. I think there might be a lot of MOMs wanting to go to a Capt. Jack/Tarzan/Aladdin dining. :rotfl: I will be the first in line!

As the mom of 3 boys I totally agree that there isn't enough to do for boys at WDW that is SPECIAL!!! (Although, I have no problem finding them cute, practical clothes out and about in the real world for boys that don't cost and arm and a leg.)

Yes, there is the pirate cruise. But my littler two will be too little for it and I can't send my oldest and not them, because they are/will be old enough to know what he is doing and will be horrified they can't go. And what am I going to do? Hide the fact he isn't with us during that time frame? I don't think so.

Yes, the main stream characters are there at several meals, but they get a little tired of just Mickey, Chip, Dale, Pluto--those character meal sluts. :) And my oldest is beyond Little Einsteins and my other two simply don't care for them. Whispering Canyon is too old for my littlest to enjoy and we've always had rotten service there that we don't even want to ever go back. Again, my oldest and even my second to some degree is beyond Pooh. Definetly would love a Heroes meal.

The build your own light saber thing...From what I can tell it is the same build light saber that Hasbro sells. DS#1 got one for Christmas 2 years ago. Instead of just one option that you make at WDW, he got all the interchangable parts for the hundreds of possibilities to make over and over. It was cheaper too. Somehow, I just don't think we'd bother with that.

Legos. Yeah, DS#1 never liked them. DS#3 is too little for them. But it is right up DS#2's alley.

We do go to the barber shop for every trip.

It's not that we don't have fun there. We have a complete and total blast. But sometimes, you want to do something extra special that is totally geared towards them. An event where age/height isn't a factor.

I have three boys pirate: :cool1:  and I have no girly stuff envy at all!! I have nieces who are pre teen ages & I would never want to have to shop for clothes w/ them ever!!:scared: I just don't love spending my days in a mall, especially with people trying to spend too much money, on clothes way too small for their bodies!
As for WDW, I think that almost all of the rides are more geared towards boys actually! I know that the rides are really suitable for anyone, but I just think that in MK, Adventureland, Frontierland, Tommorowland, are all really awesome for boys, also MGM has Star wars stuff & AK has Dinoland etc.
Maybe it is just because I enjoy being w/ my boys so much, but when I was preg. w/ our 3rd & everyone else kept wishing for a girl for us, I was secretly worried I would miss out on all of the action while nibbling on a scone & telling my daughter not to spill any tea on her dress!:sad1: Well my worries didn't last long as now I am planning our 3rd beautiful baby boy's 1st trip to WDW!!
Seeing my kids faces while they ran around on Tom Sawyers Island makes up for any salon treatments I could possibly be missing!!:cloud9:
ps~I would use 3 TS credits if my boys could dine w/ Pan & Hook!:rotfl:

As the Momma of a 6 yr old girl and a 2 yr old boy I agree about the clothes. Just shopping for this trip I have found so much cute stuff for dd that I had to pass some up. But the stuff for ds is just okay.

As far as activities. What about Ohana breakfast with Stitch. OR the Mickey's Backyard BBQ

As far as activities They would be limited for the two-year-old boy or girl.
What about these for the six-year-old
Albatross Treasure Cruise
Pirate Adventure
Islands of the Caribbean Pirates Adventure
Sassagoula River Adventure Cruise
The Bush Camp

Then there is always the boating & fishing and putt putt

-Also, do they like Star Wars? They have a make your own light saber exhibit in DTD.

Is the light sabe exhibit in World of Disney????
I struggle with the "specials for boys" as well. Mine are 7 and 4.
They adore Star Wars. Each trip we plan a special purchase for each of them and they picked light sabers this year!!!! I can't wait to hear back where the exhibit is...... 6 days and counting till departure!!

The build your own lightsaber was at Disney's Once Upon A Toy @ DTD. I am pretty sure it is still there. My boys going to go  ', if it is still there in Nov.! hmm... maybe I should save it for the last day so no one gets too Jedi crazy in our hotel room...never a dull moment with boys!!

This is quite the timely thread for me. I am a mom of 3 girls, expecting baby #4 and I recently found out that it is going to be a boy this time. I was out shopping with my girls this weekend and naturally, I headed over to the baby department to see if I could find something for the baby. ICK!!!! There was NOTHING cute at all. Everything was blue (nothing against blue, but why do girls get a choice of colors but boys can only wear blue?) and like another poster mentioned, heavy on the sports theme and UGLY!!!

I always loved shopping for my girls because the clothes were so cute but I came home and told DH that we were just going to have to crank up the heat this winter because apparently our little baby boy is going to be naked! I am a mom who loves to shop for my kids and I can tell already this is going to be a sore point for me.

It's not that bad, if you go to the Gap,Lands End, Gymboree and Hanna Anderson's stuff is wonderful, very nice soft cotton knits for the whole family.

I had clothes from these places that looked new when the kids out grew them(saved alot and luckily #2 was a boy also, so I got alot of wear out of them). Plus these brands tend to be sized a little bigger so I could get a season + wear out of the clothes, when they got to toddler sizes.

There is also a catalog/website CWKids, which has some really cute boys stuff.

As for Kohl's I only buy "name brand" items there, Carters or Oshkosh. Unfortunately to get nice boys' stuff you have to pay more $$$, but Hanna has some good sales and really cute girls stuff also(personally I love the T-shirts and the Stockholm collection for myself)

As far as merchandise, we were there Feb. and looked EVERWHERE for something for DS (age 2). We were only able to come up w/3 t-shirts and those were hard to find as well in his size. We went to all parks and DTD for stuff. At AK I went to all the shops looking for shirt for him and even asked cms to look in the back. I finally found one (after a cm pulled it from the back) after being told by another cm that they do not make shirts in his size.

Oh, I forgot they did have a plush LM car that talks when you smack it.:sad2:

My sons have not seen the Pirate movies, but they very much know what a pirate is. Captain Hook!! We read the story to them, act it out, and they have seen the movie. My two sons are 4 and 2. Now I don't like the Pirate Of the C. clothing that is out and won't buy it, but more pirate/boy stuff to do would be great. Someday....

Boys get the shaft!

I'm another mother of boys who agrees. There isn't really anything special for boys. BTW...I love the princesses and I'm so jealous of all of you moms with girls who get to do all that stuff!!!;)

We're opposites ;) I have three boys and just had a baby girl. I never liked boy clothes in most stores that much either. Everything is sports, dinosaurs, or monster trucks. Luckily, my dsis has two boys a little older and a little bigger than my two youngest sons (my oldest son is 16). Her two are 4 and 5 and her youngest son is about the same size as his older brother so he can't wear his hand me downs for very long. She buys a lot of RL Polo and other stuff Dillards sells because her MIL works there and we get all of her hand me downs and since my boys are on the thin side- even my 5 yo can wear some of them.
Now, for BABY boy clothes- I have recently found that I really like Gymboree. They're a bit expensive but the website (and sometimes the store) has great sales. I started buying stuff for my daughter there when I first disccovered how cute the baby boy stuff is. I probably wouldn't get much for my 5 yo there- a little to babyish- but I would for my three yo.
