Gringotts Current Lines

Going to Universal and staying at Royal Pacific--so will have the FOL pass benefits. My question is we have one day (11/6) on that FOL pass, and don't want to waste it standing in an excessive line for Gringotts--since we are checking into the VGF later that afternoon. How are the lines currently?? Did they ease off from summer?

I just heard stories of getting to the early-opening at like 6:30--and still waiting in line close to 10AM. I want to see the ride, but not that bad--lol.

We went last Tuesday and the lines seemed very reasonable. I think the longest was posted 45 minutes. Lines moved fast though. One point has a glitch in the ride and made the line a little longer, but we were able to ride it twice in about a 2 hours span while doing everything else there was to do in the Diagon Alley area. This was mid-day timeframe as well. We rode Rip Ride Rock-It and did Simpsons, ET and Shrek first while making our way around the park to the Diagon Alley area.

We were just at Portofino for Columbus day. We slept in our first morning and did the early entry Sunday and it was a complete failure as early entry.

Gingotts was down but people were lining up anyway outside of building. Then people were allowed into building so at least we waiting inside or under covered outside pavilion for shade. We were in line for 3 hours before bailing out. The ride started and stopped twice while we were in line. If you were close to front of line people got yellow printout fast passes on a cash register receipt size piece of paper and could return once ride was working.We weren't close enough to front of line to get these passes.

We would have gone over to IOA but Hogwarts Express and Forbidden Journey were both down Sunday morning.

My Mom and I never got to ride Gringotts this weekend.
We were very impressed by Diagon Alley though.

So Early Entry on Satuday or Monday would have worked but not on Sunday.

Early Entry seemed a lot more crowded than when we did it shortly after Hogsmeade opened.

They have been all over the place recently. We ride about 6 times this past weekend, twice yesterday.

We rode it yesterday, Monday. During the day we saw the wait time get to 110 mins on the app. At 5pm it was still at 75mins, but it dropped quickly to 30 mins at 5.30pm, so we jumped on then. We will be there at 8.30am tomorrow for a breakfast reservation, so I can let you know what it is like.

I'm staying onsite and the past 10 days I have been here, haven't made it to the parks yet for early entry.
Still have 2 more nights on site and doubt I'll be up for EE then.

Found 11:00 has been good for me with about a 30 minute or less to get on it.

If the ride goes down stay in the area as it can come back up at anytime.
When that happens, many rush to get in line.
One day last week I went at 6:20 only to find out the ride was close
No mechanical issues, but the ride at 5:30 the ride had a 90 minute wait inside.
TM told ride closed so all already inside would be allowed to finish line by park closing

It TOTALLY depends on if Gringott's is working well. If it is, the line will be 45 minutes or so this time of year. But that can easily almost double from a breakdown or two. And since most visitors are in the "never rode it yet" camp, they will wait quite a while.

We were there last week, from Monday to Thursday. We checked in Monday around 2:30 and were in the park by 3:00. Got to Gringott's around 3:30 and did the single rider. Regular wait was posted at 90 minutes and it took 30 in single. Went again Tuesday around 11am with regular wait posted at 75 minutes and we waited 20 in single. Both times, we got to ride together so that worked out well! Went again Wednesday afternoon. Posted time was 75 and again waited around 15-20 in single. Didn't get to ride together that time and the ride broke down for around 3-5 mins. They offered an immediate re-ride for everyone on the ride during the stoppage.

Like other posters have said, if the ride breaks down all bets are off. We did early entry the Friday before Columbus Day and were in line at 7am, only to have it break down. We waited in line 70 minutes before they made us leave. We finally rode it later that day with the express pass they gave us, but it meant coming back to universal from IOA. So just be prepared.

I'm glad to hear the lines are shrinking, even if it's slightly... We've been wanting to see HP World for a while now, but we figured we would wait a few years and let the "fuss" die down a little. I love Harry Potter, but I ain't waitin' 3 hours for one of his rides.

Can anyone give an EE report? Every poster I see mentions they have skipped it. Is the EE worthless (other than the extra hour of park time) because everyone goes there and makes it an hour wait right off the bat?

I would have done it but I'm not getting up at 6 am on my vacation. I think that is the general feeling of people who have been there often.

Yep......we had no intention of getting up any morning for EE.

We rode gringotts plenty using both regular queue twice and using single rider.

Although twice we walked back out of the single rider queue as it was as far back as just before where you pick up the glasses.........far too long to wait for any ride for us.

Same for us. We didn't feel like getting up early on vacation. Had enough of that over at the motherland. I did hear from other folks that EE worked well for them, meaning short wait times for gringott's.

For us on the single rider line, the first time we waited 30, we were stopped right where you pick up the glasses. The other 2 times we were right at the bottom of the stairs and only waited 15-20. The single line seemed to move in fast spurts, meaning that they were pulling several people at a time.

Our plan that we followed was to get over there on our first day and try to get it done at least once. Then any other times after that were a bonus. It worked well for us, by having it done that first day, we didn't see the need to get up early. I will say that the entire diagon alley area was VERY busy. Say for example there are 10k people in the entire park, you can count on 7-8k of them being in DA. That meant shorter wait times on most of the other rides. Save for Minion mayhem and transformers which had longer regular line wait times of 40-60 minutes, most of the other regular lines I noticed were maybe 15-20 minutes. Was still worth it to have the express pass for us though. Made for a very relaxing time.

i've never used the single rider line and was hoping someone could explain how it worked for the gringotts ride. do you miss any of the "pre show" stuff? is it possible for a party of 3 to be in the same car? tia

Yes. Single rider lines misses the preshow and you are put wherever there is an empty seat. Your party may sit in the same car and you may not. It all depends on how many single seats are empty on that particular vehicle.

Just wanted to post a quick "Thank You!" to everyone posting their Gringotts wait time experiences here. I'm going in two weeks and am debating the whole EE thing myself. Reading the posts here have given me an idea of what to expect. That's why I love the DIS community.
