Just wondering if it's possible to get a grilled cheese sandwich anywhere at Disney. We are going in September with free dining, my almost 3 year old twins are VERY picky eaters (well not when it comes to junk food), but there dinner menu is very limited (grilled cheese, pizza or pastina). I heard the pizzas not too good so I was wondering if we are at a restaurant, if they will make a grilled cheese sandwich if it's not on the menu? Thanks for any help, Linda

Sorry, I am not familiar with the WDW restaurants so I don't have a good answer to your question. However, I am reminded of the following.

I once had to do a demonstration speech for a speech class I was taking while in college. I was living in the dorms at the time. I demonstrated how to make a grilled cheese sandwich with an iron. :teeth: If you are interested in the details, let me know! Further communication along these lines should take place via PM as cooking in the rooms is a very hot topic on these boards! :duck:

Not sure about GC sandwiches in WDW but Mimi's has a great one! It's a chain restaurant....two Orlando locations! Mimi'scafe.com

I feel your pain! One of my 3 y.o. twins only eats pizza, pretzels, and those little pasta microwave meals. The resorts all have microwaves to heat up food,so I'm going to bring several of those! We are eating lunch or dinner at a character buffet every day for him to get his pizza fix. The counter service pizza,in my opinion ,doesn't taste as good;but I bet your kids will eat it.The pizza on the buffets are messier, though! Good luck.

Pikabu's at the Dolphin (at least that's what I think it's called) makes grilled cheese. The last time I was there they would give a sandwich and a half with fries so there was plenty to share.

Oh fiddlesticks, grilled cheese sandwiches. I know ALL about grilled cheese sandwiches at Disney. That is all my nephew wanted to eat, the whole trip!! On his previous, April trip, he had a grilled cheese sandwich at the Brown Derby that he really liked, and for some reason got it into his head that every Disney restaurant would have that grilled cheese sandwich. Well. Here is a list of places we ate at that do NOT have grilled cheese sandwiches:

Tusker House, Pizzafari, Coral Reef, Akershus, ABC commisary, California Grill, Columbia Harbour House, Cosmic Rays, Raglan Road.

The only place I was able to get the kid a grilled cheese sandwich was at Brown Derby--and it's not on the menu anymore, you have to ask for it.

May you have better luck on your sandwich search than I did!

I remember my DD getting one at the Concourse Steakhouse on "rainbow" bread. According to her, it was the coolest grilled cheese she ever ate.

I think she ate mostly mac n cheese and grilled cheese throughout our whole trip last September.

Wondering if you'd really want to prepare food with a hotel room iron anyway :confused3 Not appetizing for an adult anyway! ;)

Spoodles on the Boardwalk has a grilled cheese sandwich on their kids' menu. We haven't eaten there yet, but have ADRs for October.

I don't know of any counter sevice places that have them, but any table service restaurant should be able to make one for you, even if it's not on the menu.

I wish that were true. We asked at every restaurant--you can see from my list above that we ate at TS places, we asked every time, and they could not make a grilled cheese sandwich, except for Brown Derby. I am guessing they simply did not have the right kind of bread on hand or something.

According to my DD8, Earl of Sandwich makes THE BEST grilled cheese sandwich anywhere. Plus, they are huge so your twins could probably share 1 CS meal there. Just realize that the bread that they use is not the normal thin sliced bread so maybe your picky eaters would not approve, but it would be worth a try. Good luck :)

I feel your pain. My now 12 year old son was a grilled cheese ONLY boy at 3. One thing that we discovered when we were told- no we don't do grilled cheese- was asking for a cheeseburger without the meat. So they will give you a bun and cheese- heated. It was good enough for my son. Most of the TS were very accomodating and willing to give it a try even if it wasn't on their menu- like Alfredos at the time didn't have it on the menu- but they grilled 2 thick slices of bread with some mozzarella and that worked for my son.Once they realized we were willing to pay for it - it was no problem at all the places we went- if they had bread and cheese we were good to go.
The one he wouldn't eat was the quesadilla. But I thought that was good too.
Good luck and don't be afraid to ask. Everyplace we went tried to help.(some not so great but enough that he didn't starve to death) Oh and to give you some hope, he now wants to eat at Kona for the Steak Terriyaki. So there is life after grilled cheese.
